November 22, 2014 at sundown began the Hebrew month of Kislev. It is the 9th month on the sacred calendar that counts the months and the 3rd month on the civil calendar that marks the year. The name Kislev comes from a Hebrew word that means ‘security, hope or trust’.

Each month on the Jewish calendar has a Hebrew letter, Constellation and Tribe associated with it. This month all three of those have to do with ‘security, hope and trust’!! Kislev is also known as “A Month of Hope”.

The Torah portions for the month of Kislev include 9 of the 10 dreams of Genesis. All are from the Throne of God and carry heavenly strategies that help us get back into alignment with His purpose for each of us.

  • Jacob (2) ladder to heaven, cattle mating
  • Laban (1) don’t speak to Jacob good or bad
  • Joseph (2) sheaves and stars bowing
  • Butler (1) vine with 3 branches
  • Baker (1) 3 baskets on his head
  • Pharaoh (2) 7 good ears devoured by 7 thin ears

Each of us have thoughts constantly going through our minds that are either positive or negative. In the times we are living in we need to purpose to be positive based on what the Word of God says. Jeremiah 29:11says that our Heavenly Father has a good plans and a good future for each of us. Day Dream on purpose that things are going to turn around in your life.

  • When Dottie Osteen was told she had a short time to live she put pictures of herself with scriptures and kept seeing herself living and strong. She is alive today and ministers at Lakewood Church in Houston.
  • When Gloria Copeland had nothing but bills she began a scrapbook of pictures of what her home would look like and began to dream about her new home. She is now living in her dream home.
  • When Dr Cho of South Korea had nothing he began to dream on purpose, visualizing about his ministry. Little by little his nothing became one of the largest churches in the world.

What can you lose? Begin a dream book or a dream board and dare to dream. Keep a journal by your bed and expect Throne Room strategies in this divinely ordered month when heavenly dreams are in season!

Kislev is also known as the month of darkness, when the day become shorter and the nights of darkness longer. The Festival of Lights, aka Hanukkah, begins in this month. Hanukkah is a great time to rekindle and light up your faith. Hanukkah is the 8 day remembrance celebration of when the Maccabees rebelled against Antiochus IV Epiphanes and got the Temple back. A great miracle happened 1 day’s purified oil for the Menorah lasted 8 days, long enough to refine more holy oil. Hanukkah always begins on the 15th of Kislev and ends on the 2nd of Tevet, being the only Holy Day to join 2 months.

LETTER: Samech. This is the 15th letter of the Hebrew Aleph Bet and has the numerical value of 60. When I think of 60 I think of the clock of 60 minutes. We have been given another hour today as we turned our clock back! We don’t have to redo the past but we have a fresh start! The letter literally means ‘trust, complete, support or coming full circle’. Dare to trust God’s Word completely that your circumstances are about to shift and your best is yet to come!

CONSTELLATION: Sagittarius, ‘the archer’.  This represents our Redeemer has already triumphed and is coming back as the Son of God & Son of Man with great quickness. (Rev 6:2)Dare to dream that your turnaround victory has already been won and will come quickly.

TRIBE: Benjamin, represents Abundant Grace.

  • 12th son of Jacob
  • Only son born in the Promised Land
  • Spoiled, protected and provisions freely provided
  • 5 times more food and clothing given to him in Egypt
  • King Saul, Paul the Apostle and Queen Esther all from the Tribe of Benjamin
  • Began his life with selfishness, but ended his life as a great giver

Dare to dream that you are going to be lavished and spoiled with heavenly grace this month and everything is shifting to your favor. A video from the evil one has been playing in your head that you will die, your will be homeless, you are fat and will always be fat, you are a failure, nobody likes you, etc.

Read the promises written in our Father’s love letter to us and dare to dream that your best days are coming quickly. Your children are coming home, your back wages are being restored, your house is supernaturally paid off and you are giving testimony to your divine healing!! JUST DARE TO DREAM & DREAM BIG.

DON’T LIMIT GOD WITH YOUR SMALL THINKING!!

WHAT? The first night of Hanukkah begins this year on the Eve of Thanksgiving? How peculiar is this? It has not happened since 1888 and will not happen again until 2070 and 2165. So enjoy this Thanksgivukkah, you may not see another in your lifetime.

Both are days when we remember and celebrate the goodness of our God and remember His faithfulness. I have listed some similarities that I have seen.

GIVING OF THANKS

  • HANUKKAH- Jewish people (and Hebraic observant Christians such as myself) celebrate the victory of 2178 years ago (165 BC) when the Maccabees won a 3 year battle to regain control of the Holy Temple in Jerusalem.  https://mbostrom2.com/2012/12/07/hanukkah-2012/ Each evening they light another candle on the 9 candle menorah called a Hanukkiyah. As they light the candle they give God thanks for the miracle of one day’s oil lasting 8 days. They thank God that He is still the ‘Lord our God, king of the universe’. The light reminds them of the victory over paganism.
  • THANKSGIVING- Chapter 6 of the book called The Light and the Glory by Peter Marshall and David Manuel carries the most incredible history of the first Thanksgiving of 1623, when the Pilgrims planted their remaining precious seeds and experienced a drought that was sure to be their end. Realizing God was their only hope, they fasted and humbled themselves before God. Following was a 14 day gentle rain that turned a failing crop into a bumper crop!

ALL GLORY TO GOD!

  • HANUKKAH- the Jewish people realized they had no hope without a miracle from God!
  • THANKSGIVING- the Pilgrims realized they had no hope without a miracle from God!

BOTH KEPT US ALIVE

  • HANUKKAH- About the WORD of God, food for our spirit man. The Jewish people, chosen of God, were set apart to keep the timing, laws, WORD of God alive. The Temple was the place of worship, where they met with Almighty God. Since man does not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God, the Bread of the Word was preserved.
  • THANKSGIVING- About food for our body. God cares about mankind, God loves his creation and has a good plan for us. He loves this nation that was raised up in 1492 to be a place for His Chosen people to have a safe homeland until the rebirth of the nation Israel in 1948. The miracle of the dead corn stalks coming back to like preserved the Pilgrims.

The United States of American has roots of a Christian nation! I have a 2 CD series called, “Who Said We Are Not A Christian Nation?”  This truth is not being taught to our children in public school so now would be a good time to play it in your car when you have a captive audience in your back seat.

NOTE: NEXT YEAR HANUKKAH WILL BE ON CHRISTMAS EVE! How cool is that? Since this year is a ‘pregnant year’ (leap year) on the Hebrew calendar there will be an additional month added and Hanukkah will be a month later.

REMEMBER: COMET ISON WILL BE BEST VIEWED THE EVE OF THANKSGIVING AND THE FIRST DAY OF HANUKKAH!

I like to call Comet ISON, #1-Son! The only time Hanukkah is mentioned in the Bible is in the Gospel of John 10:22, “It was now winter, and Jesus was in Jerusalem at the time of Hanukkah, the Festival of Dedication.” (NLT) This is the time when Jesus announced that He was the Good Shepherd and One with Father God. Boldness again got him into trouble. Boldness and courage like the Maccabees and Pilgrims is what we need again. Can anyone shout AMEN?

Is it time again to humble our selves and pray? Is it time to realize that God is our only hope? Yes to both. Romans 13:11 tells us, “And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed.”

I almost forgot, Hanukkah and Thanksgiving are also celebrated with food and games. In the United States the games are football games. For the Jews world-wide the game is the Dreydel game, a family activity to pass on the remembrance that “a great miracle happened there”. Everyone wins in the Dreydel game. Maybe Thanksgiving should incorporate a family game of Dreydel and remember that Father God is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow! He will still work miracles for us!

Tonight at sundown begins the Hebrew month of Kislev.

I had a spiritual dream last week in which I was given point by point of what to minister when I gave the Kislev message at Breath of Life International Ministries yesterday. The message was Dare to Dream- Dream on Purpose. Father God wants us to change our mindset and begin to see your life today in the positive instead of the negative.

The Torah portions for the month of Kislev include 9 of the 10 dreams of Genesis. All are from the Throne of God and carry heavenly strategies that help us get back into alignment with His purpose for each of us.

Tonight concludes the Festival of Lights and all 9 candles will be lit, the Servant Candle lighting all eight.

The number 8 stands for ‘new beginnings’. It also means Resurrection or regeneration. Sh’moneh, shah’meyn (root) “to make fat”, to cover with fat”, “to super-abound”. Noah was the 8th person to come out of the ark; on the 8th day a Jewish boy was to be circumcised; Jesus was resurrected on the first day, which would be the 8th day; 8th note is a repetition.

The letter Chet is the 8th letter of the Hebrew Aleph Bet and carries the numerical value of 8. In ancient times it was a pictograph of a fence and thereby it has come to symbolize 1) to separate 2) to cut off from 3) to protect.

The word GRACE is a Chet word (Chet, a fence–  Samech, support–  Hey, feminine ending meaning what comes from) The grace of God protects us in our life.

Tonight on the 8th day of Hanukkah, I encourage you to read Psalm 119:57-64. These verses are a teaching using the letter Chet to show us that God’s grace, favor and Word are a fence that keeps us safe within and keeps our enemies out.

Tonight is a good night to recommit your body, the Temple of God again. Come back into the favor of God by humbling yourself and seek His will for your life.

Every Hebrew month has a Tribe, Constellation and Hebrew letter associated with it. These hold keys to our promises for that month and help us to pray in line with God’s timing and to get our lives into time with His specific appointed times.

Ecclesiastes 3:1-8 tells us ‘to everything there is a season, a time for every purpose under heaven’. Ecclesiastes 3:15 reads, ‘That which is has already been, and what is to be has already been; and God requires an account of what is past.’ From these verses we get an understanding of cycles and how history repeats itself. Just as our ‘seasons’ repeat themselves naturally (ie, Gulf experiencing hurricane season), things spiritually repeat themselves and we can learn from history. Not superstitiously, but seeking God in specific times.

Tevet is known as the ‘tenth month” according to the sacred calendar and is the ‘fourth month’on the civil calendar.  This month one of the four fast-days which commemorate the destruction of the Temple of 587 BC is held on the 10th day of Tevet. Zechariah 8:19, “”Thus says the LORD of hosts: ‘The fast of the fourth [month], The fast of the fifth, The fast of the seventh, And the fast of the tenth, ..”

The month begins with the ending of Hanukkah, also called the Festival of Lights or the Festival of Dedication. The eight-day celebration commemorates the miracle of one day’s supply of holy Temple oil lasting eight days until more pure Temple oil could be prepared. This year Hanukkah began at sundown December 8 and ends at sundown December 15. This is the only Festival that covers 2 months. It always begins on Cheshvan 25 and ends of Tevet 3 on the Hebrew Calendar.

The first mention of this month is found in Esther 2:16, “So Esther was taken to King Ahasuerus, into his royal palace, in the tenth month, which is the month of Tevet in the seventh year of his reign.”

TRIBE- Dan, “Genesis 30:6, And Rachel said, God hath judged me, and hath also heard my voice, and hath given me a son: therefore called she his name Dan.” He is the 5th son of Jacob and his name means ‘judge, discern, divine judgment’. Dan was gifted (graced) to ‘judge righteously’. His symbol is of a scale with a serpent wrapped around it. This is showing that the satanic influences will dominate if they did not turn to the Lord for help. The serpent is very beguiling and you will need divine discernment to judge every circumstance this month. Samson was from the lineage of Dan and one of the first workers to be filled with the Spirit to build the Tabernacle was from the Tribe of Dan. But in order to be mightily used of God, we need to judge ourselves and overcome our carnal nature. Remember, Dan was almost wiped out entirely out of the Bible but shows up in the millennium as first mentioned.

CONSTELLATION/MAZAL- Capricorn, ‘The Sea Goat’. It appears to be dying with its head bowed down, the right leg folded under the body and seems unable to rise with the left. The other part of the body is as a fish, full of life. The fish has always been a symbol of Christians. This represents the death of Jesus (scapegoat) so we could live. In the goat we have an atoning sacrifice, in the fish we have the people for whom the atonement was made. The entire part of this heavenly Bible story is telling of our benefits because of the death of Jesus Christ.

LETTER- Ayin, the 16th letter in the Hebrew Aleph-Bet with the numerical value of 70. The ancient pictograph is an eye and means ‘eye, look, appearance, see, understand’.  The letter Ayin combined with the Tribe of Dan show us that we are going to need divine understanding and discernment in this month of Tevet.

SPECIAL DATES IN TEVET:

  • 1- In 355 BC, Esther becomes Queen (Esther 2:16)
  • 2- On this date in 1947, the Arab Legion surrounded Jerusalem and isolated its 100,000 Jews from the rest of the Israeli population. By March 1948 the city was under full siege, and in May, Jordan invaded and occupied east Jerusalem, dividing the city for the first time in its history, and driving thousands of Jews into exile. The Arabs proceeded to destroy all 58 synagogues in the Jewish Quarter, and used Jewish gravestones on the Mount of Olives to build roads and latrines. The Western Wall would be off-limits to Jews (in spite of the cease-fire agreement granting freedom of access to holy places), restored again with Israel’s victory in the 1967 war.
  • 5- In 422 BC, the prophet Ezekiel heard the news of Jerusalem’s conquest by a foreign power, as recorded in the biblical Book of Ezekiel (33:21).
  • 6- In 1949, six British RAF warplanes enforcing a UN ceasefire were shot down by Israeli forces over the Israel-Egypt border.
  • 8- This date marks the completion of the Septuagint, the Greek translation of the Hebrew Bible in the third century BC — the oldest Bible translation. The Septuagint derives its name from the Latin word for ‘ seventy,’ alluding to the 72 Jewish scholars drafted by Egyptian King Ptolemy to translate the Bible for inclusion in the Library of Alexandria.
  • 9- Believed to be the death of Ezra. Ezra was the founder of the Great Assembly, a body of 120 prophets and sages who established important matters like the standard text found in Jewish prayer books today.
  • 10- In 424 BC, Babylonia King Nebuchadnezzar began his siege of Jerusalem. There was little damage on that first day and no Jews were killed, yet it began a chain of disasters which ended with the destruction of the Holy Temple. The 10th of Tevet is still observed today by Jews as a public fast day, as mentioned by the prophet Zechariah (8:19).
  • 11- In 1861, President Abraham Lincoln pledged to amend a federal law granting only Christian clergy the right to serve as military chaplains.  It is regarded historically as the first case of American Jews successfully challenging federal legislation.
  • 11- In 1688, Jews were expelled from Austria
  • 16- In 1863, General Ulysses S. Grant was instructed to revoke Order No. 11, which had called for the expulsion of all Jews from Tennessee, Kentucky and Mississippi.  Grant wrote: “No Jews are to be permitted to travel on the railroad southward from any point… The [region] must be purged of them.” Based on Grant’s orders, Jews were expelled from their homes, including 20 families from the town of Paducah alone.  Jewish community leaders immediately arranged a meeting at the White House with President Lincoln, who cancelled the expulsion order. Grant, who would later become U.S. president, never offered any explanation or apology.
  • 19- In 1901, the Jewish National Fund was founded for the purpose of purchasing settlement land in Israel.
  • 20- In 1496, the Talmud was first printed
  • 22- In 1798, mobs attempted to torch the Jewish ghetto of Rome, but rains put out the fire. The day was then designated as a holiday by Roman Jews. The Roman Ghetto had been in existence since 1555, when the Pope segregated the Jews in a walled quarter with three gates that were locked at night.
  • 24- In 1837, Galilee Earthquake in northern Israel killed 4,000 Jews in Safed and between 700-1000 in Tiberius
  • 26- In 1826, Maryland adopted a law which allowed Jews to hold public office, on condition that they accept the concept of reward and punishment in the afterlife.
  • 28- In 81 BC Sadducees were ejected from the Sanhedrin
  • 29- In 1808, Ezekiel Hart, the first Jew elected to Canadian Parliament, was denied his seat when he swore the oath of inauguration on a Jewish Bible

Exodus 10:21, Then the LORD said to Moses, “Stretch out your hand toward heaven, that there may be darkness over the land of Egypt, darkness which may even be felt.”

The Book of Jasher records, “”And God sent darkness upon Egypt, that the whole land of Egypt and Patros became dark for three days, so that a man could not see his hand when he lifted it to his mouth.” Now that is dark! This darkness was so thick that they could not light any light to overcome the darkness!

Rashi taught that “the darkness intensified and became so palpable that the Egyptians literally could not more, ‘One who was sitting could not stand and one who was standing could not sit.'”

Exodus 10:21, They saw not one another, neither rose any from his place for three days: but all the children of Israel had light in their dwellings.

I was enjoying my Hanukkiyah (Hanukkah candle holder) Tuesday night at home, the 4th day of Hanukkah. I did not have much light on in the room and the four candles were so beautiful and lit the room. There was no hindrance, no wind blowing on it, and as I watched the Ruach HaChodesh (Holy Spirit) brought so many scriptures to my mind about Jesus being the Light of the world, about us now being a light and to not allow our light to be hidden.

One of the traditions of lighting the Hanukkiyah is to let it shine out your window to share with the world.  I brought my Hanukkiyah to Word Power Church for Wednesday night but it did not have the same effect, even with five candles lit. All the lights were on in the room and the Hanukkiyah was under the air vent, blowing hard on the candles so they burned out fast.

The world is so much darker now than when I was young. It is getting darker because we are closing into the end of this age. We are the light of the world (Mt 5:14) and our light must shine to the world. John 1 records Jesus who came to be the Light of the world, and the world could not comprehend it. That means, nothing in the kingdom of darkness was ever able to ‘put out the light, extinguish it, lay hold of, understand’.

In Exodus we see that the world as they knew it was about to change. Many miracles for God’s chosen people accompanied the plagues that were experienced in Egypt. One of the plagues was darkness that was so thick it could be felt.

Proverbs 4:18, “The way of the righteous is like the first gleam of dawn, which shines ever brighter until the full light of day.” Walk and live as children of the light!!

Today is 12/12/12. Twelve represents government, or perfection of government, rule. There were 12 Sons of Israel, 12 Apostles, 12 calendar months, 12 Major Constellations of the Zodiac. There were 12 persons from the Old Testament that were anointed – Aaron, Nadab, Abihu, Eleazar, Ithamar, Saul, David, Absalom, Solomon, Jehu, Joash, Jehoahaz.

Tonight the largest asteroid (size of a mountain) will be the closest to the earth as it passes. Asteroid Toutatis is well-known to astronomers; it passes by Earth’s orbit every 4 years. Measuring 4.5 km in length, it is one of the largest known potentially hazardous asteroids (PHAs), and its orbit is inclined less than half-a-degree from Earth’s. No other kilometer-sized PHA moves around the Sun in an orbit so nearly coplanar with our own.  This makes it an important target for radar studies.

Timothy Snodgrass commented in his blog today: It is no accident that Asteroid 4175 Toutatis is passing near its closest projectory by Earth today. Although there is no possibility of a collision for another six centuries, I believe that todays passing on 12/12/12 is a “sign” type of event. The asteroid is the size of a large mountain, several miles wide and mountain represents the new apostolic reformation which is about to sweep across the earth. The mountain-sized celestial visitor represents the unstoppable and imminent arrival of the Kingdom of God, which will soon crush every other kingdom of this world. (highlights are my emphasis)

My prayer is that on this 5th day of Hanukkah, the Light of the World would shine bright and wake up the sleeping Church to the timing of God!!!

Romans 13:12, The night is far spent, the day is at hand. Therefore let us cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armor of light.

I Timothy 6:12 tells us to “Fight the good fight of faith!”

How many of us would be willing to fight three years of intense warfare for our faith? The Maccabees fought for three years to liberate the holy Temple. Hanukkah is the memorial day of the Dedication of the Temple and the miracle of the oil.

It is recorded in Luke 18:8 that Jesus said, “I tell you that He will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless, when the Son of Man
comes, will He really find faith on the earth?” He was teaching on prayer at that point.

One of our faithful local pastors was trying to get other pastors together to pray for their community and one response from a pastor was, “I don’t want to stir the devil up more than he is already stirred up.” Another pastor resonded, “So, you are one of those praying pastors.”

My response, JESUS!! Wake up these slumbering undershepherds!! Or replace them with undershepherds who have a passion to see Your Kingdom come and Your will to be done!!!!

Let us fight the good fight of faith and let our light shine.

Sunday morning I enjoyed teaching at Word Power Church Children’s Ministry. I was excited to teach them about Hanukkah and they were excited to learn.

Whenever we teach, we also learn. If we learn and obey, we grow!

The kids were surprised that there was no more Temple in Jerusalem. We are now the temple of the Holy Spirit. I Corinthians 3:16 reads “Do you not know that you are the temple of God and [that] the Spirit of God dwells in you?”

Just as Antiochus and his group desecrated the Holy Temple of God by sacrificing a pig in the Holy of Holies, we too have allowed and even welcomed things to happen in our life that are so out of the will of the Kingdom of God. Through our eye gate and ear gate we have allowed the powers of darkness too much place in our life.

I am currently rereading the novel “This Present Darkness” by Frank Peretti (1986). When I read this book in the 80’s I was awakened to how the spirit world operated and stirred me up to pray. No other book has made such an impression on me as this book, and rereading it now has alerted me to how easy it is to slip into darkness.

The back cover of this book reads, “Not since The Screwtape Letters has there been a novel with as much insight into spiritual warfare and the necessity of prayer.”

We do not have to work to have weeds grow in our garden, but we have to work to have flowers grow. Weeds naturally happen, just as darkness comes if we do not work to keep our light bright. The Maccabees fought for 3 years to liberate the Holy Temple, then had to work to clean it.

Don’t you think it is time to clean your body, the Temple of God, and rededicate it back to God? Time to get our lights back on!!!!  Remember, there is no power in darkness the greatest power in the universe is in the light. Selah!

He is the King of the Universe!!!

Each night after the first lighting the prayer is:

“Blessed are You, Lord our God, King of the universe, who has sanctified us with His commandments, and commanded us to kindle the Chanukah light. Blessed are You, Lord our God, King of the universe, who performed miracles for our forefathers in those days, at this time.”

Me-lech ha-olam is Hebrew for King of the Universe. Olam also means ‘eternal, eternity’, that means His kingdom will have no end!

The first question in the New Testament is found in the Gospel of  Matthew, Chapter 2. “Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judaea in the days of Herod the king,  behold, there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem, (2) Saying, Where is he that is born King of the Jews? For we have seen his star in
the east, and are come to worship him.”

Both Isaiah and Luke confirm that Yeshuah’s kingdom will never end.

Isaiah 9:6 & 7 foretells, “For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.  Of the increase of [his] government and peace [there shall be] no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this.

The Angel of God told Mary, as recoreded in Luke 1:30, “And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favour with God. (31) And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS. (31) He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David: (32) And he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end.”

Revelation 19:16 declares, “And He has on His robe and on His thigh a name written: KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS.”

I challenge you today to pledge anew your allegiance to the one true King! Worship Him with your whole heart today! Let your light shine as an overflow of your worship to the one true King!
