Ken and I share on the History of the Festival of Hanukkah on this episode of our TV broadcast. We share the history Hanukkah, how Jesus celebrated it in John 10:22 and how we personally love to share the light of Jesus in our home as we light the 9 branched Hanukkiah each evening. Hanukkah began last night at sundown (Dec 2, 2018) and ends at sundown Dec 10, 2018. Each year it is on Kislev 25 on the Hebrew Calendar, but falls on a different date each year on the Gregorian calendar that is mainly used to follow the daily events in our life.

The Hebrew Month of Elul began Sunday night at sundown. This begins the 40-day season of Teshuvah, the month of repentance or ‘returning’ back to God. This is the 40 day period when Moses went back up Mt Sinai the 2nd time to seek the forgiveness for the Sin of the Golden Calf.  The 40 days end with Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement, when Moses came down and announced they are forgiven!

This is also the time when Jesus was led of the Spirit into the Wilderness to be tempted by the devil for 40 days. Time to Align with Prophetic Timing.

The Key to this season is PREPARATION for the Fall Feasts! We prayer for years for a wedding, we prepare all month for a special birthday or gathering. Stores start playing Christmas music in July! But is the a special time to prepare on God’s calendar? A time to prepare to meet our Lord!

The longest totality of a Blood Moon in this Century was not seen in the United States, but the SkyView App on my iphone made it possible to find out what constellation this 1 hour and 43 minutes of totality would occur. You can see below the moon (app does not pick up the blood color) and Mars on the Constellation Capricorn.

Capricorn is the Sea Goat, “The goat of atonement slain for the Redeemed.” This begins the 2nd book of the 3 books in heaven that tell the story of Jesus. The first book was “The Redeemer, His coming and sufferings”, the 3rd book tells about “His Second Coming, and the glory that shall follow”. This 2nd book and its chapters (constellations) tell about the benefits to the Redeemed, the Church”.

The Goat part of Capricorn tells of the Atoning Sacrifice and coming out of the Sacrifice is the Fish, representing the Redeemed.  The Hebrew name for this constellation is Gedi, ‘the kid or cut off’.

Mars makes the entire heavenly sign very interesting. I have been reading that this sign with Mars being as big as the Moon has not happened for 35000 years.

And it happened on the Hebrew Day of LOVE? In history, Mars would be a sign of war coming to earth. In history, a Blood Moon over Israel was a bad omen for Israel. But we are in very unusual times, where everything changes. God is sending HUGE signs in the heavens, and I think there will be very trying times for Israel with Hezbollah in the North, Syria in the North West and Hamas on the South East. I believe God will be glorified in what He plans to do to protect His covenant land and covenant people.

Blood Moon and Mars on Capricorn July 27 2018

Friday, July 27 will give be filled with excitement of the longest of total lunar eclipse of the Century, with the totality lasting 1 hour and 43 minutes. The entire eclipse from beginning to end will be around 4 hours. It is scheduled for 8:30pm UTC, so where I am in Central Standard time will be around 3:30pm. I will have to watch it online since the totality will be seen in Israel and the nations of prophecy. This will be the last total lunar eclipse in 2018. If you remember the first Blood Moon of 2018 was a Super Blue Blood Moon January 31, which happened to be the New Year of the Trees on the Hebraic calendar. Jesus told us to watch the fig tree (Israel) [Matthew 24:32] and the other trees (nations of prophecy) [Luke 21:29].

But the interesting thing is when it falls on the Hebraic calendar.

The Mishnah tells us that: “No days were as festive for Israel as the 15th of Av and Yom Kippur.”  Yom Kippur (Day of Atonement) symbolizes God’s forgiveness for the Golden Calf and Tu B’Av symbolizes God’s forgiveness for the unbelief of the 10 spies culminating the spread of fear and unbelief that kept the nation of Israel from entering into the Promised Land for 40 years.

The 9th of the Hebrew month of Av is the lowest point in month and the 15th of Av is the highest. Both have historical meanings that carry through to this day. This day has become known as the “Jewish Valentine’s Day“, when unmarried women would become betrothed.

There are multiple negative historical events that have followed the cycle on Tisha B’ Av (9th of Av) which began with the nation of Israel choosing to follow the negative report of 10 of the 12 spies coming out of the Promised Land. There are five major historical events associated with Tu B’ Av (15th of Av).

  1. End of the Wilderness deaths- 40 years following God’s decree that those who were 20 years of age and above ended. History teaches that each year on the 9th of Av all those who had been 20 or above would dig graves and lay in those graves on that day. The next morning those who were still alive would get out of the grave and know they had at least another year of life in the Wilderness. On the 40th year no one died. They thought they had the date wrong so they kept changing the date and by Tu B’Av they realized all was forgiven and they could not enter the Promised Land under Joshua’s leadership.
  2. This was first precedent of equal rights for women in the Bible. The daughters of  Manesseh’s lineage dared to believe God for a new thing, land given to women. (Numbers 27:1-11 & Numbers 36) Their father Zelophehad died in the wilderness, but not because of his sins- his daughters made sure it was on the record that he did not side with Korah. These women were pushers, not quitters, “Lord I want the blessing! I want it in my body, I want it in my spirit, I want it financially, I want to be blessed in my ministry, I want it for my family, I want my blessing!”  All 5 daughters manifest a balance between the spirit of confrontation and a spirit of cooperation.
  3. Benjamin’s Tribe allowed to continue– Following the consequences of the sins of the perverted men from Tribe of Benjamin as recorded in Judges 19-21, only 600 males from the Tribe of Benjamin remained. The other 11 Tribes had taken an oath not to allow marriage from their tribe and now there was great mourning realizing Benjamin’s tribe would cease. On the 9th of Av they allowed the 600 males who were left were allowed to snatch virgins during an annual dance, so that the vow would not be violated and the tribe of Benjamin would continue.
  4. Wood for the 2nd Temple – Following the restoration of the Second Temple, wood was needed for the Temple altar and none was available near Jerusalem. Brave men were sent out to bring satisfactory wood before winter set in and the dead line to have the wood in the Temple was Tu B’ Av.
  5. Burials allowed during Bar Kochba Revolt, 132 AD– The Hebrew custom for burial was to bury the same day as the death so the bodies could not begin to decompose.   In 135 AD, the army besieged Bethar and on  the 9th of Av, the Jewish fast day commemorating the destruction of the first  and second Holy Temples, the walls of Bethar fell. After a fierce battle,  every Jew in Bethar was killed. Six days passed before the Romans allowed the  Jews to bury their dead.  This was a double miracle, in that, first, the Romans finally gave permission for the burial, and, second, in spite of the long period of time that had elapsed, the bodies had not decomposed. The permission was granted on Tu B’Av.

The 3 week period between Tammuz 17 and Av 9 (Tisha B’Av) are called ‘bein haMetzarim’, aka Between the Straits, Dire Straits. Lamentations 1:3, “Judah has gone into captivity, under affliction and hard servitude; she dwells among the nations, she finds no rest; all her persecutors overtake her in dire straits.” Fear is strong during these 21 days because of the historical events connected with these two dates.

  • Av 9 this year will be July 21 (7/21/18), begins at sundown July 20. Because this falls on a Shabbat, the 25 hour fast of the 5th Month (Zechariah 8:19) will be on Sunday, July 22 (Sundown July 21-sundown July 22)

The three months of Tammuz, Av & Elul are the most challenging months for Israel. History repeatedly has shown that if anything tragic is going to happen to Israel it will happen in the months of Tammuz & Av. These three summer months heat up both naturally and spiritually. The kingdom of this world is fighting against God’s plans and promises for Israel. The beginning 9 days of Av will continue prayerful struggle through Dire Straits, ending with the fast of Tisha B’Av, leading to the Love Dance of Tu B’Av on the 15th.

Av is the month that the 12 spies returned from the Promised Land, 10 with an evil report (Fake News) and Joshua and Caleb believing God was bigger than the giants of the land. Av is a month to hear, believe and proclaim the greatness of our God. Everyday the news will be speaking fear, but it is the time for the Church to speak faith and overcome all fear. It is high time to believe the report of the Lord!

Here are some historical events connected with the 9th day of Av

  • Av 9, 1312 BC; 10 of the 12 spies brought back an evil report and Joshua and Caleb brought back a good report. Because the nation of Israel chose to believe the evil report they were not allowed into the Promised land for 40 years. (Nu 13)
  • Av 9, 586 BC; Solomon’s Temple was destroyed (Jer 39)
  • Av 9, 70 AD;  Herod’s Temple was destroyed
  • Av 9, 132 AD; Bar Kochba revolt crushed. Betar destroyed over 100,000 Jews (3rd Jewish-Roman War)
  • Av 9, 133 AD; Turnus Rufus ploughs site of Temple. Romand build pagan city of Aelia Capitolina on site of Jerusalem
  • Av 9, 1095 AD; First Crusade against the Jews declared by Pope Urban II. 10,000 Jews killed in the first month of the crusade
  • Av 9, 1290 AD; Expulsion of Jews from England, accompanied by pogroms and confiscation of books and property
  • Av 9, 1492 AD; King Ferdinand and Queen Isabella expelled all Jews from Spain and Portugal. The last boat of Jews was beside Columbus’s ship waiting for the tide to set sail. I believe at this time the mandate to bring the gospel to the world changed hands from Sapin to the new America.
  • Av 9, 1914; First World War begins- Britain and Russia declare war on Germany.
  • Av 9, 1942; Deportation from Warsaw Ghetto to Treblinka Concentration camp and killings begin
  • Av 9, 1989; Iraq walks out of talks with Kuwait setting stage for the Gulf Wars
  • Av 9, 1994; The deadly bombing of  the building of the Jewish community center in Buenos Aires, Argentina killed  86 people and wounded some 300 others
  • Av 9, 1994– Shoemaker Levi Comet broke into 21 pieces and began to bombard the planet Jupiter, which represents King David and Israel
  • Av 9, 1994- Meeting were taking place in Oslo, Norway regarding ‘land for peace’, Oslo Accords

Av 9 is a fasting day listed in Zechariah 8:19.Thus saith the LORD of hosts; The fast of the fourth [month], and the fast of the fifth, and the fast of the seventh, and the fast of the tenth, shall be to the house of Judah joy and gladness, and cheerful feasts; therefore love the   truth and peace.” Feast Days were appointed by God, but these Fast Days are appointed by man. These fasts centered on themselves, not sorrow for sin, but sorrow for their loss. God is promising them that these days of fasting in fear and mourning will become days of gladness and joy.

Psalm 122:6, “Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: they shall prosper that love thee.”

This concludes the series of events of April 19 in History. My hope is that you will cover Israel with much prayer April 19 as they celebrate their 70th Anniversary of fulfillment of the promise of God, “Will a nation be born in a day?” (Isaiah 66:8)

The first of 3 programs of Cycles of April 19 was to help you understand cycles in history, and how “history merely repeats itself”.  This will be part 1 of the actual events in history of April 19 and dates around it. I have found in research that April 19-May 1st is a 13-day time period that demands child sacrifice by fire all the way back to  the time of Baal worship. In our time, it has changed to the time of ‘gun fire’, fire and terror.
