L’ Shana Tova! Happy New Year!

Today is the first day of year 5778, counting the years since the creation of Adam. This is a two-day Feast of the LORD, because ‘no man knows the day or the hour’ when the first sliver of moon is sighted. I have found several names for this ‘fixed appointed time’ on God’s Day-timer. There are 7 Feasts of the Lord, 6 of them have historical significance, but this Feast has no history. The Feast of Trumpets point to future events.

  • Spring Feast Season (all fulfilled) (have to do with ‘personal salvation’)
    • Passover
    • Feast of Unleavened Bread
    • Feast of First Fruit
  • Summer Feast (fulfilled)
    • Pentecost
  • Fall Feast Season (yet to be fulfilled) (have to do with ‘national salvation’)
    • Feast of Trumpets
    • Day of Atonement
    • Feast of Tabernacles

The Names of the Feast of Trumpets reveal of what will be happening when this Feast is fulfilled.

  • Rosh HaShanah – Head (rosh) of the (ha) Year (shanah), when the number of the year changes
  • Yom Teruah – “blowing of trumpets” or “The Day of the Awakening Blast”
  • The Time of Jacob’s Trouble – another name for the Tribulation
  • Yom Ha-Zikaron – “Day of Remembrance” – the day to remember to blow the shofar 100 times
  • Yom HaDin / Day of Judgment / The Opening of the Books / Opening of the Gates – these names all have to do with the 3 books that are opened in heaven on this day for judgment (1) The books of the Righteous (2) The books of the Unrighteous (3) The books of those in-between. These 10 days between Feast of Trumpets and Yom Kippur is believed to be the time when judgment will be set for the next year.
  • Yom HaKeseh – “The Hidden Day”, Zeph 2:1-4, ‘…it may be you shall be hid in the day of the LORD’s anger’, Ps 27:5, ‘He shall hide me’
  • Ha Kiddushin / Nesuin – “Wedding of the Messiah” – Joel 2:15-16’… let the bridegroom go forth of his chamber, and the bride out of her closet (chuppah)’
  • Ha Melech – “Coronation of the Messiah as King of the whole earth”

Rosh Hashanah (Head of the Year) begins tonight at sundown. As the sun goes down, the month. day and year will change. The year will become 5778, marking the years since the creation of man (Adam)

The Feast of Trumpets (also called Rosh Hashanah or Yom Teruah) begins by the blowing of trumpets (shofars or rams horns). There are 100 blasts of the shofar:

  • Tekiah blast“- awakening sound, one long blast (3 second)
  • Shevarim, “broken”- three shorter ones- weeping, lamenting, broken heart
  • Teruah, “alarm”, nine quick blasts in short succession (totaling 3 seconds)
  • These series are blown 11 times for a total of 99 blasts
  • After that, the final blast is knows as Tekiah Hagodolah, “great blast” or “THE LAST TRUMP”! (minimum of 10 seconds)

Rosh Hashanah begins 10 Days of Awe that will end on Yom Kippur, Day of Atonement that begins at nightfall, September 29, which begins Tishri 10 on the Hebraic calendar. Yom Kippur ends the 40 days of Teshuvah (repentance, turning back to God). For 40 days they have been reading aloud Psalm 27, as they make a Chuppah (canopy or covenant covering) over themselves and their loved one. They have also been making restitution to those who they have harmed, giving to the poor and doing acts of kindness. (things we should do daily, but neglect)

At the time of the blowing of the trumpets on Rosh Hashanah, it is believed by the observing Jewish people that these blasts are heard in heaven and 3 books are opened. Malachi 3:16, “Then those who feared the LORD spoke to one another, And the LORD listened and heard them; So a book of remembrance was written before Him For those who fear the LORD And who meditate on His name. (17) “They shall be Mine,” says the LORD of hosts, “On the day that I make them My jewels.* And I will spare them As a man spares his own son who serves him. (18) Then you shall again discern Between the righteous and the wicked, Between one who serves God And one who does not serve Him.” (Also see Revelation 20:12)

  1. Book of the Righteous sealed with the seal of God who would immediately be written for good life the next year (Revelation 3:5)
  2. Book of the Unrighteous, who would be judged during the year; the totally unrighteous whose names are blotted out.(Ps 69:28)
  3. Book of the Intermediate, those who are not completely righteous or wicked. They would have until the Day of Atonement to make restitution and get right with God or they would not be in the Book of Life. (Joel 3:14)

L’Shanah Tovah Tikatevu Literal Hebrew to English Translation: “May you be inscribed (in the Book of Life) for a good year.” This traditional Rosh HaShanah greeting wishes others a good year and is often shorted to “Shanah Tovah” (Good Year).

Years ago, the Rabbis realized that Ha’Satan (The Accuser) actually has the numberical value of the Hebrew letters of 364. They believed that there was one day that Ha’satan did not have access to them, The Day of Atonement which is the day when the blood was put on the Mercy Seat on the Holy of Holies for the sins of the nation.

As a believer, I am spending the Days of Awe praying for our nation, the nation of Israel and for the Jewish people to find Jesus as their Messiah.

Ezekiel 22:30, “And I sought for a man among them, that should make up the hedge, and stand in the gap before me for the land, that I should not destroy it: but I found none.”

How many is our LORD going to find this year? Are you one of those who stand in the gap?

We are in the time in history that Moses was on the mountain for the second 40 days, seeking forgiveness for the entire nation of Israel because of the sin of the Golden Calf. In history, the day that he came down with the judgment of mercy was Tishri 10 (this year 9/30/17), which became known as The Day of Atonement (Yom Kippur).

Tomorrow at sundown begins the “Ten Days of Awe”, where books in heaven are opened for the ‘just, the unjust and those in-between’. I feel what the Spirit of the Lord is showing me is that there is judgment upon national leaders and nations right now and there is still time for them to humble themselves and turn to the Lord.

Time-is-running-out-HourglassThe books will be closed, judgement will be set at the end of the 10 days of Awe, as Yom Kippur begins, The Day of Atonement. In history, this is the day that Moses came down the mountain with the judgment of mercy for the nation of Israel.  We are in very serious times, very dangerous times. Seek the Lord, not only for yourselves, but for the nations, for the leaders.

Revelation 15:3, “And they sing the song of Moses the servant of God, and the song of the Lamb, saying, Great and marvelous are thy works, Lord God Almighty; just and true are thy ways, thou King of saints.”

netanyahu-hanukkah

This year the 8 day Jewish holiday of Hanukkah begins on Christmas Eve and ends on New Years Day 2017. This is an annual holiday celebrated on the Hebrew month of Kislev on the 25th day. Because the Gregorian calendar is solar and the Hebraic calendar is lunar, their calendars rarely coincide, especially the years that are a leap year. The Gregorian calendar adds one day to the month of February, while the Hebraic calendar adds one entire month. Both calendars had a leap year this year – unusual. (I will be sharing the history of Hanukkah before December 24)

Hanukkah has only fallen on Christmas Eve five times in 100 years. Using 5 times in 100 years, most of us would think it happened every 20 years. But there was no pattern with these occurrences. The first was 1918, the 2nd three years later, the 3rd was thirty-eight years later, the 4th was forty-six years later and 5th was eleven years later.

I found a very unusual pattern of shift in national/world power in each of these years. There was much more that happened in history, but these are the things that stood out to me that changed history.

1918
  • End of WWI
  • US Elections – President Woodrow Wilson elected 2nd term, Republicans gain control of the House
  • British began rule of Promised Land (Israel) and began the name of Palestine
1921
  • Warren Harding inaugurated 29th US President
  • Winston Churchill becomes British Minister of Colonies
  • Lenin begins “New Economic Policies”, leading to 70 years of Communism
  • Communist parties begin: Belgium, South Africa (CPSA), China, Spain
  • Hitler becomes chairman of the National Socialist Party
  • The Sturmabteilung or SA (the “Brown Shirts”) is formally formed by Adolph Hitler
  • Iraqi Army is formed
  • The Emirate of Transjordan is created
  • After 84 years of British control, Afghanistan achieves sovereignty
  • US signs peace treaty with Germany
  • Japanese Prime Minister Hara Takashi is assassinated in Tokyo
  • Partito Nazionalista Fascista formed in Italy by Mussolini
1959
  • Fidel Castro comes into power in Cuba; President Eisenhower recognizes Castro’s new government (4 months later Eisenhower shuns Castro and goes golfing)
  • Alaska and Hawaii become states, making the 50 states
  • 22 year-old Saddam Hussein forced into hiding
  • Syria withdraws the last of its military garrison from Lebanon, ending 29 years of military occupation
2005
  • Mahmoud Abbas wins election of Palestinians
  • Pope John Paul II dies
  • Gaza Pullout
  • Hurricane Katrina
  • Iran’s president, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, attends a “World Without Zionism” conference. He calls for Israel to be “wiped off the map” and condemns the “peace process.”
  • Angela Merkel, 51, becomes Germany’s first female chancellor
2016
  • Britain exits EU after Referendum (BREXIT)
  • Donald Trump wins presidential election, 45th President
  • Republicans take over House and Senate
  • Fidel Castro dies
  • North Korea claims successful H-bomb test
  • Iran and Arabic countries cut ties – ambassadors recalled

Tonight as the sun goes down, the 25 hour fast of Yom Kippur begins.

Leviticus 23:27, ““Also the tenth day of this seventh month shall be the Day of Atonement. It shall be a holy convocation for you; you shall afflict your souls, and offer an offering made by fire to the LORD. (32) “It shall be to you a sabbath of solemn rest, and you shall afflict your souls; on the ninth day of the month at evening, from evening to evening, you shall celebrate your sabbath.”

This is the most serious day on the Jewish Calendar. God wanted His chosen people to be holy (kadosh – set apart, sanctified), separated from sin and the heathen influences of the world.

Yom Kippur, also known as  Yom Ha kippurim (which means the day of covering or concealing), the Day of  Atonement, The Fast, The Great Fast, Day of the Covering, Face to Face (my favorite name); Day of Forgiveness, Day of Grace, or the Day of Judgment.

But this year is more serious- It is a Jubilee Year. It is said to be the 40th Jubilee year since Christ’s death,  70th  Jubilee year since Joshua brought the nation of Israel into their Promised Land and the 120th Jubilee year in history.

Leviticus 25:10, “And you shall consecrate the fiftieth year, and proclaim liberty throughout all the land to all its inhabitants. It shall be a Jubilee for you; and each of you shall return to his possession, and each of you shall return to his family.

The Ten Days of Awe are finished. The books are sealed.

Pray for the Peace of Jerusalem.

Yesterday I was giving a love gift in the church offering and happened to look at the back of the $20 bill. I immediately was reminded why our nation has been so blessed. We trust God! This nation has Christian roots and mission money has gone out from our nation to all the nations! “IN GOD WE TRUST’ is centered right over the White House. No matter what problems our nation has had, we have always been able to be a blessing to the nations and stand behind Israel.

This is why we are now praying for our nation:

White House June 2015

This morning I awoke and I heard “Just and true are your ways, O Lord”, from the Song of Moses in Revelation 15:3. We have been doing out part, crying out to God for our nation and repenting for the many great sins. We have come before a Holy Judge, on behalf of ourselves and on behalf of the innocent.

We are in the time in history that Moses was on the mountain for the second 40 days, seeking forgiveness for the entire nation of Israel because of the sin of the Golden Calf. In history, the day that he came down with the judgment of mercy was September 23, The Day of Atonement (Yom Kippur).

This morning on a prayer call I had a vision of an hour glass, with time running out. Tonight ends the 7 year land cycle of Leviticus 25 and the last day of the Shemitah Cycle is today. Tomorrow begins the “Ten Days of Awe”, where books in heaven are opened for the ‘just, the unjust and those in-between’.

This year, the Jubilee Year will be announced on Yom Kippur. We are in very serious times, very dangerous times. Seek the Lord, not only for yourselves, but for the nations, for the leaders.

Tonight begins the partial Solar Eclipse. This will be over the southern part of the earth so most of us will not see it except by internet. I saw the short clip of what it will look like on http://www.timeanddate.com/eclipse/solar/2015-september-13. It looks like a bowl. May this not be filled with the judgment of God upon the nations as they prepare to take the Promised Land at the United Nations, Selah.

Revelation 15:3, “And they sing the song of Moses the servant of God, and the song of the Lamb, saying, Great and marvelous are thy works, Lord God Almighty; just and true are thy ways, thou King of saints.”
