WOW! Everyone was looking for the must anticipated Asteroid 2012 DA14 that would come into our atmosphere today, but the meteorite that hit Russia caught most everyone by surprise! The Asteroid was 130,000 tons and quietly passed the earth 17,000 miles away.

But the Meteorite seen today was seen with a naked eye over a path of 300 miles at the speed of over 33,000 miles per hour. In the city of Chelyabinsk, Russia the sonic boom shock wave blew in doors, smashed glass and set off car alarms. Over 1,100 people were injured and 43 were hospitalized. 3,000 buildings suffered damaged.

What is the difference between a Meteorite and an Asteroid? I am glad you asked.

A Meteoroid is a rock in space from an asteroid or comet orbiting the sun.

A Meteor is what the rock becomes when it hits the atmosphere. It is often called a ‘shooting star’ or ‘falling star’

A Meteorite is what remains of it, should it survive the journey and hit earth. This is what hit Russia today.

An Asteroid comes from a Greek word aster. This is used many times in the New Testament such as Revelation 6:13, “And the stars of heaven fell to the earth, as a fig tree drops its late figs when it is shaken by a mighty wind.” The stars that will fall from heaven in the End of Days will be very much like the Meteorite that fell in Russia today.  I consider this a preview of coming events.

An Asteroid is a relatively small, inactive body, composed of rock, carbon or metal, which is orbiting the Sun. They are also known as ‘wandering stars’. Most of the asteroids in our solar system can be found orbiting the Sun between the orbits of Mars and Jupiter in what is called an ‘asteroid belt’.

There is a dwarf planet in the asteroid belt called Ceres. In the belt, as many as 40,000 asteroids of ½ mile in size, others ranging from a few feet to several miles. Much like a highway, the asteroids often collide and break up into smaller asteroids and continue to orbit. Sometimes an asteroid can be captured by gravitational pull of a planet and go into orbit.

Larger asteroids with a 20-megatron punch enter every 400 years, while a one-kilometer, 10,000-megatron comet (or one asteroid) hits once in 100,000 years. Scientists believe Meteor Crater  was formed by a 130-foot chunk of meteoric iron that hit Arizona with a force of 45 megatons, digging a hole 3/4 of a mile across and 750 feet deep. The meteorite that formed the Meteor Crater in Arizona traveled at 12 miles a second before impact.

As the End of Days closes in, we will see more and more sign in the Heavens. Genesis 1:14 clearly states that the Sun, Moon and Stars are for SIGNS and for SEASONS. Seasons is the Hebrew word moedim, fixed appointed times of God and are His set times. There has never been a prophetic event that has not been accompanied by a sign in the heavens. Look up, our redemption is drawing nigh!

Do you remember I taught in 2009 that there would be NO prophetic signs in the heavens in 2012? We now see looking back on 2012 that there were no significant comets, eclipses, meteroid…………… no unusual or out of the ordinary heavenly signs pointing to Biblical prophetic events yet to happen. Why? Because God has already told us what would happen in His Word and it will not happen according to the Gregorian calendar or the Mayan calendar.

Predicted Astronomical Events for 2012 (from my study of in 2009)

  • January 31 –  Eros Meteoroid, the second-largest Near Earth Object on record (size 13×13×33 km) will pass Earth at 0.1790 astronomical units (26,778,019 km; 16,639,090 mi). NASA studied Eros with the NEAR Shoemaker probe launched on February 17, 1996.
  • May 20 – Annular solar eclipse. Path  runs through the Pacific Ocean from northern China to California.
  • June 6 – The second and last solar transit of Venus of the century. The next pair is predicted to occur in 2117 and 2125.
  • November 13– Total solar eclipse visible in norther Australia and South Pacific
  • November 28– Penumbra lunar eclipse
  • December 3– Jupiter in opposition
  • December 21- End of Long Count of Mayan Calendar
  • December 21- the solstice sun will reach the southern terminus of the Dark Rift, where it touches the ecliptic in Sagittarius, forming a cross with the ecliptic between Sagittarius and Scorpio. The Mayans called it the Crossroads, or Sacred Tree.  Astronomer called it the ‘nuclear bulge’ of the Galactic Center- the center of our Milky Way galaxy.

None of these took were extreme or out of the ordinary. None of these events took place on a Hebrew holy day or Feast day.

1 Thessalonians 5:1, “But of the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that I write unto you. (2) For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night. (3) For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape. (4) But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief. (5) Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness. (6) Therefore let us not sleep, as [do] others; but let us watch and be sober.

The Greek word for Times is chronos and speaks of things that will happen in chronological order, linear happenings. Seasons is kairos and it speaks of fixed appointed times or a definate limited portion of time.

As children of God who walk in the light of the Word of God we are not caught unaware. We know that God created the end from the beginning. Every historical prophesied biblical event has been accompanied by heavenly signs on God’s calendar. It has been called the Hebrew calendar or the Jewish calendar but it really is God’s calendar.

You would be very wise this year to invest in a lunar calendar that has the moeds listed (fixed, appointed times of God). I use a good 16 month calendar that comes out of Israel from Galilee Experience. www.thegalileeexperience.com

Hanukkah 2012 – Day 5

Today is 12/12/12. Twelve represents government, or perfection of government, rule. There were 12 Sons of Israel, 12 Apostles, 12 calendar months, 12 Major Constellations of the Zodiac. There were 12 persons from the Old Testament that were anointed – Aaron, Nadab, Abihu, Eleazar, Ithamar, Saul, David, Absalom, Solomon, Jehu, Joash, Jehoahaz.

Tonight the largest asteroid (size of a mountain) will be the closest to the earth as it passes. Asteroid Toutatis is well-known to astronomers; it passes by Earth’s orbit every 4 years. Measuring 4.5 km in length, it is one of the largest known potentially hazardous asteroids (PHAs), and its orbit is inclined less than half-a-degree from Earth’s. No other kilometer-sized PHA moves around the Sun in an orbit so nearly coplanar with our own.  This makes it an important target for radar studies.

Timothy Snodgrass commented in his blog today: It is no accident that Asteroid 4175 Toutatis is passing near its closest projectory by Earth today. Although there is no possibility of a collision for another six centuries, I believe that todays passing on 12/12/12 is a “sign” type of event. The asteroid is the size of a large mountain, several miles wide and mountain represents the new apostolic reformation which is about to sweep across the earth. The mountain-sized celestial visitor represents the unstoppable and imminent arrival of the Kingdom of God, which will soon crush every other kingdom of this world. (highlights are my emphasis)

My prayer is that on this 5th day of Hanukkah, the Light of the World would shine bright and wake up the sleeping Church to the timing of God!!!

Romans 13:12, The night is far spent, the day is at hand. Therefore let us cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armor of light.

Comet ISON – Is it a Heavenly Sign of Coming Events?

Historically comets have come before wars, seen as bad omens of deaths of kings or noble men or a warning of forthcoming danger. See my blog of 9/25/11 Significant Comets Connection to Historic Events.

Comet ISON was discovered by September 21, 2012 by 2 Russian Astronomers, Vitali Nevski and Artyom Novichonok. Since they were using a telescope that belonged to International Scientific Optical Network (ISON) the comet was named after the network and not by their names (i.e., Halleys Comet found by Edmond Halley).

Comet ISON could be the brightest comet in history, time will tell.  We will see what happens as it approaches the sun November 28, 2013.

The significance I see is that it is expected to be the brightest comet in history and it will be in our viewing during the first of the tetrad Blood Moon over Passover of 2014.

When the signs are in the heavenlies over God’s appointed festivals (Feasts of the Lord) it is calling us to attention, watch. Luke 2:25, “And there will be signs in the sun, in the moon, and in the stars; and on the earth distress of nations, with perplexity, the sea and the waves roaring; (28) Now when these things begin to happen, look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption draws near.” (Also Daniel 6:26-27; Joel 2:31; Isaiah 34:2-5)[my comment- look up, WATCH the heavenly signs]

Planet Jupiter Hit Once Again on 9/11/12

From Astronomy.com: Well, Jupiter’s done it again. The biggest planet in the solar system was the site of a bright impact early Monday morning, similar to collisions in the summers of 2010 and 2009. Scientists and observers aren’t sure exactly what hit Jupiter — most likely a stray comet or asteroid — but if the impact leaves behind a break in the planet’s cloud tops, it’ll shed some light on what kind of object created it.

Jupiter in Hebrew is called Tzedek, which means ‘righteousness’. It is the largest of all the planets and is called the Star of David. It represents kingship, coronations and birth of kings. It represents the Messiah, the Coming King.

The planet Jupiter also represents Israel. Since the planet Jupiter was considered to be the planet representing King David, and he was given the promise of a throne in Jerusalem, the bombardment of Jupiter can be interpreted as a sign of future strikes on Israel, Jerusa­lem and the Jewish people. Certainly the end-time Bibli­cal prophecies speak of a time of “Jacob’s trouble”. Hebrew Names Version translates  Jeremiah 30:7, “Alas! for that day is great, so that none is like it: it is even the time of Ya`akov’s trouble; but he shall be saved out of it.”

In 1994 the Shoemaker Levi Comet broke into 21 pieces. For seven days, from July 16 to 22, a series of 16 fragments from the comet began to bombard the surface of Jupiter, each impact was stronger than a nuclear bombarded the planet the area affected was larger than planet earth. This happened on Av 9 (Tisha B’Av) the most dreaded day on Israel’s calendar. This was the SAME DAY- Secret talks were going on in Oslo, Norway to exchange Israel’s land for peace, “Oslo Accords”!! The beginning of the cosmic activity was the 9th of Av which is the anniversary of many disastrous events, including the destruction of Solomon’s Temple in 587 BC and Herod’s Temple in 70 AD.

Again on July 21, 2009,   A giant scar-like blemish has appeared in the clouds near Jupiter’s south polar region, which NASA observed in infrared after receiving a tip from an amateur sky watcher in Australia. The likely impact appears to have occurred exactly 15 years after the remnants of Comet Shoemaker-Levy 9 bombarded the planet in 1994 in an event that was widely predicted and scrutinized as it happened. The latest impact was not predicted, and it was caught by chance.

June 3, 2010 Jupiter took another hit. (Sivan 21, 5770) In History, In the Hebrew year 2448 (1312 BC), Miriam spoke negatively about her brother Moses, and was afflicted with the skin malady, tzarat. In his great humility, Moses then prayed for Miriam to be healed. God instructed that she be quarantined outside the Israelite camp for seven days. In testimony to their great love for Miriam, the entire Jewish nation waited during this period before journeying onward. (Numbers ch. 12)

June 2010 Israel was experiencing the Flotilla incidents. Pulitzer Prize-winning columnist Michael Goodwin says President Obama’s appeasement policies helped to create the Gaza flotilla incident … Weakness always begets aggression; and, like clockwork, Obama’s repeated signals that he is weakening America’s commitment to Israel are emboldening the Jewish state’s enemies.

September 11, 2012 it was hit again. Riots have broken out in the Middle East, US Ambassador to Libya has been murdered, riots have also come to Jerusalem.

Sunday night, September 16 Rosh Hashanah begins– the blowing of trumpets, sounding the alarm. Another name for this Feast of the Lord is “The Time of Jacob’s Trouble.” SELAH

Elul 27 in History – Oslo Accords

From Aish.com: In 1993, Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin and Palestinian Chairman Yasser Arafat shook hands on the White House lawn, signaling the start of a peace process known as the Oslo Accords. Israel agreed to transfer autonomy to the Palestinians, in exchange for a cessation of violence. However, Palestinian terrorists carried out a spate of bus bombings and roadside shootings throughout the 1990s. In July 2000, Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak attempted to reach a final agreement, offering the Palestinians 93 percent of the territories — later upped to 99 percent — but Arafat balked. As U.S. chief negotiator Dennis Ross would later explain: “Arafat could not accept [the offer]… because when the conflict ends, the cause that defines Arafat also ends.” Instead, the Palestinians launched a terror war, known as the Al-Aqsa Intifada, which claimed the lives of over 1,000 Israelis and 4,000 Palestinians.

19 years later, the violence in the Middle East has accelerated.

The Last Days were seen 2000 years ago by Jesus Christ as he shared with His disciples. “For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places.”

June of last year, all these nations were under a full blood red moon, which turned totally black. In history, a blood red moon has come to mean violence and war are coming and full black moon has come to mean famine is coming. Both of these are in the nations that were under a full blood moon that turned to black. This blog had 1541 hits within a few hours. People want to know what thsese signs mean, just as the disciples were asking for a sign.

The sign is speaking loud, “Get ready, the End is near!”

2012 Blue Moon

The next Blue Moon is scheduled for August 31, 2012.

What is a Blue Moon? It is the 2nd full moon in one (solar) month.  That year would have 13 full moons instead of the usual 12. The first moon this month was August 1st so 2012 will have 13 full moons. Below is a really cool photo of an airliner leaving Orlando during the first full moon this month.

When someone says “Once in a blue moon” they are saying it is absurd,  may not  or rarely happens.

The color will not actually be blue unless there has been a volcanic eruption, fires or other gases in the atmosphere. The color would only change during unusual sky conditions. The Associated Press reports this week that 220 counties in the United States are in severe drought conditions and many are experiencing out of control fires. For these areas, the moon may actually look blue August 31st.

The next Blue moon is scheduled to happen July 31, 2015. This is significant to me because 2014 and 2015 will have back-to-back blood red moons on Passover and Tabernacles both years. This is called a Tetrad. In history, there have only been 3 times this has happened on these lunar mid-month Feast of the Lord days. There will not be another Tetrad on Passover and Tabernacles in this century following 2015 according to NASA’s computers.

  • 1493 and 1494- After the Jews were expelled from Spain and the Spanish Inquisition
  • 1949 and 1950- After Israel became a nation and immediately went into the War of Independence
  • 1967 and 1968- After the Six Day War when Jerusalem came back into the hands of the Jewish Nation of Israel

All 3 had to do with the Jews and followed wars. Question, will there be a war involving Israel before 2014? Pray for the Peace of Jerusalem, Psalm 122:6.

Venus and Jupiter with Constellations March 15

The main ‘fixed stars’ form constellations and  have been there since recorded history. Each constellation has 3 smaller constellations. The cluster formation of stars from brightest to least bright tell the story of Jesus from birth to His glorious return.

From left to right:

ANDROMEDA,  ‘the chained woman’

  • Symbol of the persecuted church- the redeemed in their bondage and affliction
  • Her wrists and ankles are chained, but the chains are broken
  • Shows the Israel & the Church as unpopular with the world and does not realize the power in being redeemed of the Lord
  • Her chains are seen as broken because she will be in extreme power during the end times
  • Shown as broken loose- even though the devil tried to chain her and weaken her, he cannot keep her in bonds

ARIES, ‘the ram or lamb’

  • The sign of Aries is the picture of Jesus as our sacrificial Lamb
  • There are 66 stars in this constellation and all the stars in Aries sing the same song, “worthy is the Lamb, slain, bruised and yet living forevermore!
  • The chief star (in the forehead) is named El Nath, or El Natik, which means ‘wounded’, ‘slain’.
  • The next star (in the left horn) is Al Sharatan, ‘the bruised’, ‘the wounded’
  • The next is called Mesartim (Hebrew) ‘the bound’
  • E. W. Bullinger writes in Witness of the Stars: On the 14th of Nisan, in the year of the Crucifixion, stood at the very spot marked by the stars, El Nath, the pierced, the wounded or slain, and Al Sharaton, the bruised or wounded! God so ordained “the times and the seasons” that during that noon-day darkness the sun was seen near those stars which has spoken for so many centuries of this bruising of the woman’s Seed- the Lamb of God”

PERSEUS, ‘the breaker’

  • ‘The King, breaker’, delivering the redeemed
  • He is seen walking in the brilliant path of the Milky Way
  • Jesus is the only one worthy to break the seals of Revelation 5:2-9
  • The Hebrew name is Parats, where the Greek form Peres or Perseus
  • Micah 2:13, “The breaker is come up before them: they have broken up, and have passed through the gate, and are gone out by it: and their king shall pass before them, and the LORD on the head of them.”
  • In His right hand he has mighty “sword of the Spirit”, lifted up to strike the enemy
  • He has wings on His feet, showing He will come “quickly” and “swiftly”
  • In the left hand He carries the head of the enemy that has been slain! YEAH!! In Hebrew it is called Rosh Satan or ‘the head of adversary’
  • ALGOL is the brightest star in the head. Al Gol is continually changing.
  • In about 69 hours Algol changes from the 4th magnitude to the 2nd. During four hours of this period it gradually diminishes in brightness, which it recovers in the succeeding four hours; and in the remaining part of the time invariably preserves its greatest luster. After the expiration of this time its brightness begins to decrease again. Fit emblem of our great enemy, who, “like a roaring lion, goeth about seeking whom he may devour” (I Peter 5:8); then changing into a subtle serpent (Genesis 3:8); then changing again into “an angel of light”( 2 Corinthians 11:14). “Transforming himself” continually, to devour, deceive, and destroy.

TAURUS, ‘the bull’

  • Messiah the Judge, coming to rule the whole earth
  • The picture is of the bull with his head down, rushing to pierce and destroy his enemies with his sharp horns
  • Taurus is assigned to the sons of Joseph as prophesied by Moses. Deuteronomy 33:7, “His glory is like a firstborn bull, and his horns like the horns of the wild ox“
  • Just like Capricorn, (sea goat) where the fish is coming out alive from the dying goat, Taurus the bull is coming out of Aries, the lamb
  • Jesus may have come meek as a Lamb the first time, but now when He comes the second time He will be fierce
  • ALDEBARAN is the name of the Bull’s Eye and means ‘leader‘ or ‘governor’
  • PLEIADES is the cluster of the stars in the neck of the bull  and means  ‘congregation of the judge or ruler’. This is also called the Seven Sisters. This comes from the Greek Septuagint as the translation of the Hebrew Kimah which means the ‘heap, or accumulation’. The Syriac name for the Pleiades is Succoth, which means ‘booth’. (Note: The 7 Churches of Revelation 3 are at the base of the Taurus Moutains)

ERIDANUS, ‘the river of the judge’

  • The river of wrath breaking forth for His enemies
  • I Thessalonians 5:9, “For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ“
  • This river is coming forth from Orion, the Coming Prince, to judge. It runs down out of sight of all the constellations
  • Cetus, the great sea monster is seen trying to stop the flow, but cannot because it is the ‘fiery river of the judge’ and cannot be stopped
  • Daniel 7:9, “”I watched till thrones were put in place, And the Ancient of Days was seated; His garment was white as snow, and the hair of His head was like pure wool. His throne was a fiery flame, its wheels a burning fire; (10) A fiery stream issued and came forth from before Him….”
  • Psalm 97:3, “A fire goes before Him, and burns up His enemies round about.”
  • Psalm 50:3, “Our God shall come, and shall not keep silent; A fire shall devour before Him, and it shall be very tempestuous all around Him.”
  • Isaiah 30:27, “Behold, the name of the LORD comes from afar, Burning with His anger, …….and His tongue like a devouring fire. (28) His breath is like an overflowing stream, ….. (33) ……….the breath of the Lord, like a stream of brimstone, kindles it.”
  • Nahum 1:5, “The mountains quake before Him, The hills melt, And the earth heaves at His presence, …(6) Who can stand before His indignation? And who can endure the fierceness of His anger? His fury is poured out like fire, ……...”

Venus Joins Jupiter March 15, 2012

This week we will have a beautiful view of two of the ‘wandering stars’.  Tonight they came closer together but the best show will be March 15.

Some of the stars are stationary, such as constellations, but others move in a rythmn. The original seven ‘wandering stars’ we call planets and are part of the original purpose of God as found in Genesis 1:14-19, “and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years“.

The first question in the New Testament is found in Matthew 2:2, “Saying, Where is he that is born King of the Jews? for we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him.” The question is asked by Magi from the East and history records that they were students of Daniel’s teachings. The prophet Daniel never left Babylon and was able to convey the purpose of God’s original purpose for signs in the heavens. There are going to be more signs in the heavens of Jesus’ Second Coming than His birth. Are you looking up?

This joining of Venus and Jupiter is causing me to get back into the Song of Songs, the best of the best of all Solomon’s writings. He wrote 3 books and I liken them to the Temple he was famous for: Proverbs (Outer court) Ecclesiates (Inner Court) and Song of Songs (Holy of Holies). In the Holy of Holies you get in by permission only and you go alone. Selah.

Here is the Hebraic understanding of these planets and the constellation where they are located this week:

VENUS (Hebrew- Nogah, means ‘brightness‘)

  • Represents the Bride of Messiah
  • According to early Biblical views, Jupiter represented the Messiah and Venus represented His Bride
  • According to Greek & Roman mythologies Venus is known as the goddess of love
  • Known as the ‘morning star’ because it can be seen just before sunrise and closer to the sun than earth. The day of the Lord, like the dawning of any calendar day, does not burst forth abruptly. It is not pitch back at 5:59am and then bright morning the at 6am. The night gradually recedes as dawn comes. In that transition, before dawn breaks, the morning star begins to shine on the eastern horizon. This is actually the planet Venus. This portrays what God intends for the Bride of Christ in these last days before our Beloved Bridegroom comes for us.(Isaiah 60:1-3, arise shine)

JUPITER (Hebrew- Tzedek, means ‘righteousness‘)

  • Largest of all planets
  • Called the Star of David
  • Represents kingship, coronations and birth of kings
  • Also represents the Messiah, the Coming King
  • Also represents Israel
  • According to Jewish tradition, when Jupiter is hit from heavenly bodies it is a sign of the end of the world

This week terrorists are firing rockets and missiles into Israel and are even nearing Tel Aviv. This is the time for us to draw near to God in prayer and use our authority in prayer as we stand in the gap for Israel and the 200,000 Israeli’s that are in bomb shelters.

Tomorrow I plan to share the constellations and their main stars that will be seen around Venus and Jupiter Thursday night.

ORION – ‘The Coming Prince’

Orion is called  ‘the Glorious One’ ‘the Hunter’ ‘the Prince’. The heavens declare the glory of the Lord (Ps 19:1) and this January constellation shows that the coming One is not a beast, but a triumphant, glorious Son of Man & Prince of Peace.

Amos 5:8, “He made the Pleiades and Orion; He turns the shadow of death into morning And makes the day dark as night; He calls for the waters of the sea And pours them out on the face of the earth; The LORD is His name.”  (See Job 9:9 & 38:31 above)

Each winter night when I am out my eyes are automatically directed to this star group and I felt compelled tonight to study it again. I can always spot this star grouping by Orion’s belt, ‘the three kings’ and I connect the timing to right after Christmas and Hanukkah. Orion is the most brilliant of all the constellations and I hope you enjoy Orion as much as I do!! This constellation is brilliant, bright and shows forth Jesus as “The Light of the World”.

  • John 8:12, “Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, “I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.”
  • John 1:4, “In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. (5) And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend  it.” (NLT reads, ‘and the darkness can never extinquish it.’; the NIV reads, ‘but the darkness has never understood it’)
  • John 9:5, “As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.“
  • Matthew 5:14, “You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden.” (Isaiah 60:1-3, arise shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord is risen upon you)

Different Names

  • In Hebrew the word is Chiseil, meaning ‘a strong one’, ‘a hero’.
  • Orion was originally spelled Oarian, from the Hebrew root word, ohr, meaning light
  • In Egyptian it is Hagat, which means ‘this is he who triumphs’
  • The ancient Akkadian is Ur-ana, the ‘light of heavens’

Interesting facts about Orion

  • There are 78 stars that make up this constellation, many of such brilliance and brightness that they are specifically named.
  • brightest in the shoulder is named Betelgeus, which means ‘the coming of the branch ’(Malachi 3:2) This is a star of great size- 700 million miles in diameter, while the earth’s diameter is almost 8,000 miles.
  • Betelgeus is a red star and Rigel is a blue star and is hotter than Betelgeus
  • The next in brightness is in the foot and called Rigel or Rigol which means ‘the foot that crushes’. The foot is lifted up, and placed immediately over the head of the enemy, as though in the very act of crushing it.
  • The next star in the left shoulder is called Bellatrix, which means ‘quickly coming’ or ‘swiftly destroying’
  • The three in the belt are called ‘the three kings’
  • Job 38:31, “Can you bind the cluster of the Pleiades, Or loose the belt of Orion?”
  • One of the three in the belt is Al Nitak, the ‘wounded One’
  • Another star in the belt is Minaka, ‘dividing’ as a ‘sacrifice’
  • From his belt hangs a sharp sword. The handle is inthe form of a head and body of a lamb. In the belt is a very fuzzy looking star, but it is a Nebula (cloud of gas). At the end of this article I will put a photo from the Hubble Telescope of the Orion Nebula.
  • In his right hand Orion lifts up a mighty club
  • In his left hand he lifts up the token of his victory, just as David did of Goliath. The head looks much like a ‘roaring lion’ who has been slain.
  • In the right leg is called Saiph, ‘bruised’ (connecting to Gen 3:15) with the other leg He is crushing the enemy
  • Other stars Al Rai, ‘who bruises’, ‘who breaks’; and Thabit (Hebrew) ‘treading on’; Al Giauza, ‘the branch’; Al Gebor, ‘the mighty’; Al Mirzam, ‘the ruler’; Al Nagjed, ‘the prince’; Niphla, ‘the mighty’; Nux, ‘the strong’; Heka, ‘coming’; Meissa, ‘coming forth’
  • The Equator of the Heavens passes nearly through the middle or Orion
  • Even though the stars in Orion appear together, they actually are at different distances from us. Betelgeuse is about 430 light-years away, while Rigel is about 800 light-years away. That means the light you see from Betelgeuse started out 430 years ago, but the light from Rigel started out 800 years ago–before Christopher Columbus sailed the Atlantic Ocean.

You may wonder how each constellation is named. Psalm 147:4 tells us “He telleth the number of the stars; he calleth them all by [their] names.”.  As you follow the name of the brightest star in each constellation and go down according to their brightness you will see the entire story apear. The entire set of 12 constellations and their decans all tell the story of Jesus Christ from His First Coming to His glorious Second Coming.

We add our voice to John the Apostle and say, “He who is the faithful witness to all these things says,”Yes, I am coming soon!”Amen! Come, Lord Jesus!” (Rev 22:20)
