Shabbat is Sabbath in Hebrew. It is #7676 in the Strong’s Concordance and it is used for Sabbath, Day of Atonement, Sabbath year, and weekly Sabbath. It is to be used for any day that the LORD states is to be holy, land rest, a day of rest, no work. Holy means to set it apart from every other day.
Tonight (April 5, 2019) is very significant! We have 3 Sabbaths tonight.
- Weekly Sabbath for the Jews begins at sundown Friday and ends sundown Saturday. If that seems strange to you, go back to Genesis Chapter 1 and see how God orders the night before the day. Also, did you know that was not a command until God gave the 10 Commandments at Mt Sinai?
- Monthly Sabbath – called “Rosh Chodesh”, which means “head of the month”. Every beginning of the months they were commanded to rest, give their First Fruits of praise, worship, offering and hear a message from the prophet. Tonight begins the new moon marking the month of Nissan on God’s calendar.
- God actually calls this the “first month” of the year
- In Hebrew it is called Abib or Aviv (Exodus 13:4), meaning the grain is in the ear – marking the barley harvest in Israel
- After they left bondage in Babylon, this month became to be known as Nissan or Nisan, “time of the flight”, following the time of Passover.
- This month is a very “redemptive month“
- Yearly Sabbath – This is a New Year that began Exodus Chapter 12:2, “This month shall be your beginning of months; it shall be the first month of the year to you.”
- For 2448 they had been celebrating the New Year in the Fall marking the years from Adam’s creation.
- Now 6 month later they have a New Year to count the month
REJOICE, REJOICE, REJOICE! Find some place to worship, give Him the First Fruits of your Worship and listen to a prophetic voice!!!
