April 16 will mark the 65th Anniversary of the Nation of Israel. This was Iyar 5, 5708 on God’s Calendar (aka Jewish Calendar). On November 29, 1947, the United Nations voted Israel into existance. Not everyone was happy about the rebirth of Israel. Immediately the next day (May 15, 1948) 6 Arab nations made war with Israel, The War of Independence. The cost to the new nation after 15 months was 6,000 lives. The 6 Arab nations had skilled military, Israel fought with anything they had under the motivation of “we have no alternative.” It was fight or die, 6 nations to 1 nation.
The number 65 is an interesting number.
- The four Hebrew letters of Adonai – Aleph, Daleth, Nun and Yod- add together for a total of 65.
- E.W.Bullinger records in “Number in Scripture”, Sixty-Five being a multiple of thirteen (13 x 5 = 65), is specially associated with Ephraim (see Isa. 7:8), and marks the apostasy of that Tribe. This apostasy, which began in Judges 17, afterwards extended to the Ten-Tribe kingdom, which is frequently spoken of therefore under the name of ‘Ephrain’. “Within three-score and five years shall Ephraim be broken that it be not a people.”
Jeremiah 32:17, “O Sovereign LORD! You made the heavens and earth by your strong hand and
powerful arm. Nothing is too hard for you!”
- Land brought back to life -a nation was born in a day – 70 AD to 1948
- Revival of the Hebrew language after close to 2,000 years! “Language,” wrote the Hebrew poet Chaim Nachman Bialik (1873-1934), “is the key to a nation’s heart.”
- Jewish people, scattered since 70 AD or before, now had a home to return to
Psalm 122:6, “Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: they shall prosper that love thee”
