“RAISE UP THE OBADIAH’S”

By I Kings 18:1, Elijah is back on the scene after 3 1/2 years (verse 1 says ‘many days’) Elijah had been in Zarephath those many years, but where exactly is that area? Where Jezebel came from, by Sidon in the area that is now Lebanon.

When he comes back the word of the Lord came to him again, when the famine in Samaria was severe. ““Go, present yourself to Ahab, and I will send rain on the earth.” The one Elijah brought the message to was Obadiah (not the prophet who wrote the book of Obadiah). Obadiah greatly feared the Lord and hid 100 prophets in caves and personally fed them with bread and water. This was after Jezebel massacred all the prophets of Israel she found. The word massacre in Hebrew is karath and means ‘cut off, cut down, eliminate, kill, behead, destroy”.

How does this parallel with today? There are godly men and women that God has raised up in the government and they have been going through much physical, spiritual, family, financial hardships, not to mention character assassinations. These may be elected government positions, or they could be those prophets, intercessors, pastors, ministries that God has given a voice in the government today. I personally know several who are tired, weary, lacking funds but keep on going because there is no going back from what God has called them to do.

In Elijah’s time, 100 men of God were protected by 1 man, and they were only fed with bread and water during the famine time. Jezebel was feeding 850 of the false prophets from her lavish table.

Today, those who reign over the media empire are fed well, fed from the king’s table (government) while the prophets of God sent to the government are barely making it financially, struggling to maintain their ministry as the spirit of Jezebel works to suck the life ouT of them.

Yesterday I felt compelled to get a stool and reorganize my A-C shelf, which is the highest shelf. What are the odds of me being compelled to do this on a nice Saturday afternoon? The odds are too high to imagine. Anyway, as I was reorganizing that shelf by author, I picked up the 2005 book, Journal of the Unknown Prophet by Wendy Alec of God TV. I then turned it over and my eyes immediately focused on “He Speaks to the Media“.

I have been so burdened about the lies and deception to the public through the media. It was no accident that this book came into my hands yesterday. I want to bring out a few lines from her prophetic word from pages 205-207, “Judgment Upon The Media”, a prophetic word given to Wendy in 1999:

“And so too My wrath is turned upon the peddlers and the soothsayers of this day. And it is you, the media, I hold accountable. For even in these past thirty years, surely you have propagated lies and bombarded My people day and night with your lies until the truth they once knew and embraced in their hearts was in turn exchanged for a lie. But the lie was your lie, manufactured and propagated by those great empires built by mankind. And so it was, that that which was originally birthed to glorify what was good and righteous and pure in the human heart became overtaken by the lust of money, power and greed. And avarice reared its head. And so the media empires of this world became tools to manipulate and control and exercise dominion over the public at large, over this generation…………..And then you took the faithful, and across your screens you mocked their faith. You exchanged faith for humanism and intellectualism and atheism, and many, many of My little ones fell and followed your lies. And so I tell you, O man, that your judgment awaits. The Son of Man is seated on a great white throne, and His angels stand like flaming fire…………For much, yes, so very much was given you, and from you, much was required, and as I watch you, in your self-deception and your delusions, I weep for you. For my warning to you is My mercy. Repent, O man; repent, O child repent. You whom I created to serve and to love Me, repent. Repent even today in your rejection of Me, I wait for you. I weep, I weep and wait for you each and every day. Repent, BELOVED man.”

“LORD, RAISE UP OBADIAH’S IN THE LAST DAYS TO HELP, ENCOURAGE, STAND IN THE GAP AND FINANCIALLY SUPPORT THESE FAITHFUL MEN AND WOMEN OF GOD YOU HAVE PLACED IN THE GOVERNMENT”

In March 8, 2007, Dutch Sheets (who is the best teacher ever on Elijah, Jezebel and Baal) gave a great report on the Strongmen over America, the ‘spirit of Baal’. I believe this is relevant for us today.

Problem: Tolerating Jezebel – Error of Church of Thyatira (Rev 2:18-19) Verse 20, “Notwithstanding, I have a few things against you, because you allow that woman Jezebel, who calls herself a prophetess, to teach and seduced My servants to commit sexual immorality and eat things sacrificed to idols.”

The Seven Churches of Revelation 2 & 3 were real churches during the days of John, and a picture of the different Church periods throughout history. The 4th Church, of Thyatira was believed by many to be the Church Age during AD476-1520, The Tribulation, Church of the Papacy.

Our first pastor after was Al Scott M.Th. in Marshall, MN. He was a brilliant teacher and I have his entire study of “The Seven Church of Revelation”. He expressed that the Church of Thyatira’s emphasis was works. “Good works for salvation” is false doctrine this church age embraced. The city was a very commercial city, dealing with “trade-guilds”, much like the powerful unions today. Pastor Scott wrote, “These trade-guilds presented Christians with a real problem. No one could hope to be a prosperous trader unless he was a member of these guilds.But the trade-guilds were intimately associated with the worship of pagan gods.” Christians faced poverty, losing their business unless they participated with the heathen feasts, where the grossest sexual practices took place.

He goes on to say, “It is believed by some that this woman whom the Lord calls “Jezebel” was associated with the Sambathe. She had professed Christianity, but now urged Christians to compromise and join the trade-guilds.” The Oriental sibyl called the Sambathe, a heathen god was sought at her shrine for guidance.

In regards to the church age of Thyatira, Pastor Scott wrote, “Thyatira symbolizes the rise of the Papacy, of which Jezebel is a type….Those who remonstrated against the Pagan practices and idolatry of the Roman Church were subjected to the severest persecution, and multitudes gave their lives during the cruel inquisition.” From the periods of 709-1534 these following practices were brought forth. Kissing the Pope’s foot, Worshiping of images and relics, Use of ‘holy water’ began, Canonization of dead saints, Fasting on Fridays and during Lent, Celibacy of the priesthood, Prayer beads, The Inquisition, Sale of Indulgences, Transubstantiation, Adoration of the wafer (host), Bible forbidden to laymen, Cup forbidden to people at communion, Doctrine of purgatory decreed, Doctrine of seven sacraments affirmed, The Ave Maria approved, Jesuit Order founded.

The entire study of the churches at the time of the writing, the different church ages and where we see ourselves spiritually in our walk is all very interesting. Many have made a career of just the study of the Book of Revelation. But, I want to stick to the connection to the Days of Elijah.

Trade-Guilds: It is interesting that at the time of this writing, here in America, the Church is either under tremendous attack in their careers because of their belief, or tolerating the spirit of Jezebel. In Hollywood, there are many unions that if you do not agree with same-sex marriage you cannot work there. Cake decorators and flower shops who stand for the Bible of ‘one man and one woman’ have lost their businesses and gone bankrupt. There are recordings of Muslim bakers being approached for a gay wedding cake, and refused. They were not targeted, they were not sued. Why? The spirit of Jezebel that is operating behind the scenes is out to kill the prophets again,and not just the prophets, but to destroy the worship of “One True God” in America. Who would have thought a 7-year old boy would have the sheriff come into the school to order the child not to give students Bible verses. A county clerk was put in jail for not giving a gay couple a marriage license. I think you get my point. IRS has targeted auditing 501(c)3 religious organizations. I personally know of one organization that the agent actually told them to only go after Christian organizations.

Jezebel always operated with the religious system and political system. Jezebel was a control freak and the spirit of Jezebel is all about control. Jezebel works under the spirit of Baal, which is a principality. Dutch Sheets taught in 2007 that this may be the Strongman, or one of the main spirits over America. Look how far we have morally gone down since 2007,  look how much this spirit has increased. Behind this spirit is murder and a death culture.

  • Molech was under Baal and that was the killing of babies – abortion.
  • Baal prophets were cutters (I Kings 18:28) – teens are cutting themselves today to relieve the pain they feel
  • Baal is the strongman behind sexual perversion – homosexuality, pornography, sex trafficking
  • Baal-berith is another name of Baal and it means ‘the lord of covenants’ – attempts for Christians to leave God and ‘marry’ or align with him – we see this in the tattooing, punk, darkness
  • Baal always goes after the next generation

And we cannot be tolerant. Jesus warns us – DANGER! PASSIVITY! I got a message on Danger! Passivity! a few years ago and it is more needed today than ever. A passive person no longer has a fight – that is why the sex slaves no longer try to run away, lost their fight. That is why the Jews during the Holocaust walked into the showers, ovens with no fight left. That is why men are kneeling on the shores in the middle east, dressed in orange jumpsuits, getting their heads cut off by ISIS.

Get your HOPE back Church! Proverbs 13:12 in the Voice translation reads, “Hope postponed grieves the heart”. NKJV reads, “Hope deferred makes the heart sick.” People have lost hope in their government and have quit praying, and quit voting. ‘Why try’, they say. But when Donald Trump and Bernie Sanders rose up and people begin to hope that we still have a say in the government. And now the battle of the spirit of Baal and Jezebel working behind the scenes really comes forth with great strength.

The Bible gives up HOPE, the Bible teaches us how to pray. The Bible teaches us not to put our trust in any one man. “Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not unto your own understanding.”  Align yourself with someone who is organized to stand for a righteous cause. Get into a prayer group and pray with awareness of what is happening, seek God for our families and nation.

These are the days of great trials
Of famine and darkness and sword
Still we are the voice in the desert crying
Prepare ye the way of the Lord!

 

 

 

 

 

These are the Days of Elijah – Pt 3

So what was happening in the Southern Kingdom? What was going on in Judah?  They finally had a righteous King,  Jehoshaphat. His name means, “Jehovah has judged”. He began his reign in the 4th year of King Ahab of Israel’s reign and reigned 25 years.

2 Chronicles 17:3, “Now the Lord was with Jehoshaphat, because he walked in the former ways of his father (ancestor) David, he did not seek the Baals (4) but sought the God of his father, and walked in His commandments and not according to the acts of Israel. (5) Therefore the Lord established the kingdom in his hand; and all Judah gave presents to Jehoshaphat, and he had riches in abundance. (6) And his heart took delight in the ways of the Lord; moreover he removed the high places and wooden images from Judah”. The remainder of the chapter goes on to say how powerful they were, how abundant  the riches of the land. Because they had reform, revival.

David was not actually his ‘father’, his father was King Asa. Jehoshaphat was the 4th King of Judah,  the kings who came from the bloodline of King David, ‘a man who was after God’s heart’. (Acts 13:22)

King Jehoshaphat not only brought the worship of the One True God back into Jerusalem, but he sent priests throughout all the Kingdom of Judah to teach the people the Book of the Law. No longer would God’s people perish for a lack of knowledge.

Their borders were safe and there was a new  respect for Judah. 2 Chronicles 17:10, “And the fear of the Lord fell on all kingdoms of the lands that were around Judah, so that they did not make war against Jehoshaphat.” That little patch of the world again held respect and power of all the kingdoms.

During the hard times in Israel, the people groaned, mourned, suffered. They were in famine. They were in total ignorance of their great God, Jehovah. Can you imagine what it was like? Ahab son of Omri did more evil in the eyes of the Lord than any of those before him…. Ahab … did more to provoke the Lord, the God of Israel, to anger than did all the kings of Israel before him (1 Kings 16:30, 33). Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.”(2 Corinthians 3:17) There was no freedom or liberty in the northern kingdom of Israel, only bondage and darkness.

During the same time the southern kingdom of Judah rejoiced. There was freedom from war, rain, a reverential fear of the Lord, liberty. What made the difference? A righteous leader!

Proverbs 29:2 tells us, “When just leaders are in power, the citizens celebrate;
    but when evil people gain control, their joys become moans.” (The Voice)

Later in his reign, King Jehoshaphat made wrong decisions, but it was wonderful in the land when he followed God with all his heart.

 

These Are The Days of Elijah – Pt 2

The spirit of Elijah and Jezebel continues throughout the Church Age, into the Tribulation period. Malachi 4:5 tells us, “Behold, I send you Elijah the prophet before the great and dreadful day of the Lord“. So everyone was expecting Elijah to come, every Passover Seder they set a place for him, look out the door to see if he is coming. But we have not come to the ‘great and dreadful day of the Lord’- Yet.

Matthew 17:11-13, “Jesus answered and said to them, “Indeed, Elijah is coming first and will restore all things. But I say to you that Elijah has come already, and they do not know him but did to him whatever they wished”…Then the disciples understood He spoke of John the Baptist.” Elijah did not come back in the flesh, but John the Baptist had the spirit of Elijah upon him.

We read in Mark 9:4, how Moses and Elijah showed up on the Mt of transfiguration, Moses representing the Law and Elijah the prophets. Moses representing the Abraham lineage and Elijah representing the ‘wild branch’, and I do mean wild!

Revelation 2:18, the church of Thyatira tolerated Jezebel and that was their downfall. When the servants threw Jezebel down in I Kings 21:25-26, the dogs ate her body, leaving only the skull, feet and palms of her hands. So here is what is ‘spiritually left of Jezebel to work throughout the ages:

  • Skull– mind control, Jezebel was a control freak and used a form witchcraft to control
  • Feet – representing her walk, way of life, future goal, intentions, ambitions
  • Palms – speak of bribing, greasing of the palms, everything for profit

I Kings 17:1, “And Elijah the Tishbite, of the inhabitants of Gilead, said to Ahab, “As the Lord God of Israel lives, there shall not be dew nor rain these years except at my word.” parallel that with what James 5:17 says, “Elijah was a man with a nature like ours, and he prayed earnestly that it would not rain; and it did not rain on the land for three years and six months.”

I Kings 17:1 left out the part of him praying earnestly, but then praying is normally done in secret, in your ‘WAR ROOM’! There is no one from the religious community of priest and prophet left to make any difference so God raised up Elijah. So what do we know about Elijah? He was a Tishbite:

  • Hebrew: Eliyahu ha’tishbi m’toshavei gil’ad
  • In Hebrew Tishbi and Toshavei are the same words
  • Toshavei is “stranger, foreigner, sojourner”
  • Elijah was not a native-born Jew, he was an outsider! He was totally outside the false religious system, the tolerating priesthood and the corrupt political system.

From The Jewish Book of Why, “Elijah was known by several names. Gileadite being one. This because he lived east of the Jordan River in Gilead. He was not a citizen of the area. He belonged to the class of tolerated half-citizens called toshavim, “dwellers.” Hence, the same Tishi or Tishbite was applied to him.”

One thing we know about Elijah, and the spirit of Elijah upon John the Baptist – they were the most unpolitical correct and outspoken voices of their times.

 

 

 

 

These are the Days of Elijah – Pt 1

This is the first of my series of the times we are living in right now, “These are the Days of Elijah.” God has been revealing to me much about the parallel of those times in history and our current season.

Much of what I am hearing from God has to do with this election season, but it is much more than what you think. This election is not political, it is a spiritual war. The story of Elijah and Jezebel took place over a period of over 20 years and you will be seeing much parallel with our nation today.

This year we had a leap year on both the Gregorian and Hebrew calendars, which is very unusual. The Gregorian calendar adds one day to February every 4th year. But the Hebraic calendar adds an entire month 7 times in 19 years. One day in my prayer time I felt drawn to go back and see when the last time this happened. It was 2008, another presidential race year when Barak Obama was voted in as the 44th President, defeating John McCain. I felt compelled to look again and found it was in 2000, when George W. Bush was elected as the 43rd President, defeating Al Gore- a race that went to the Supreme Court. Again I looked back and it was in 1992, when George H Bush lost the election to Bill Clinton. And here is where the story begins……

That takes us back 24 years and things in our country do not look the same. So let’s take as look at what the nation of Israel looked like during the time of the Days of Elijah. The nation was divided. 10 Tribes made up the Northern Kingdom called Israel. 2 Tribes made up the Southern Kingdom called Judah. When the Kingdom divided the first king of Israel, King Jeroboam, put 2 golden calves in strategic places for people to worship. He was very concerned about his people going to Jerusalem the required 3 times a year for the Feasts of the Lord. He put one up in Dan, by the Lebanon border and the other in the southern region in Bethel, ‘the house of God’. The people became darkened in their faith and the nation continued in decline, without their faith and hope in God. By the time of King Ahab, the nation had drastically declined. So much so that Ahab was prompted to go to Tyre (Lebanon area) and marry the princess Jezebel to form an political alliance for a strong military and trade route.

Jezebel’s father was Ethbaal of Tyre, high priest and king of the Phoenicians. According to Josephus, Ethbaal served as a priest of Astarte, the primary Phoenician goddess. Jezebel most likely was the priestess. When she came to live in Israel, she brought her idols with her. She was responsible for bringing Baal worship into Israel. She personally funded false religion as 850 prophets ate from her table – 850!!  King Ahab immediately built a sanctuary for Baal in the heartland of Israel, Samaria (I Kings 16:31-33)

She also massacred the prophets of the Lord, all except for 100 that Obadiah had in caves and personally fed with bread and water.

All this happened and Elijah had not even shown up on the scene yet. That comes tomorrow. Stay tuned.

We sing in Church services called These Are The Days of Elijah. It is sung with joy and anticipation. But reviewing the words, and living in them right now have opened my eyes. We like the end, but do we really understand the narrow place we will have to go through to get there? To get through the narrow place we need to strip ourselves of baggage and cares we are carrying and only be concerned about what God is concerned about.

These are the days of Elijah,
Declaring the word of the Lord:
And these are the days of Your servant Moses,
Righteousness being restored.
And though these are days of great trial,
Of famine and darkness and sword,
Still, we are the voice in the desert crying
‘Prepare ye the way of the Lord!’

Behold He comes riding on the clouds,
Shining like the sun at the trumpet call;
Lift your voice, it’s the year of jubilee,

These are the days of Ezekiel,
