We have now come to the half-way point of the 40 Days of Teshuvah. I hope you are hearing our King Jesus speaking to you through this Holy of Holies in the Bible.

Song 2:14, ““O my dove, in the clefts of the rock, in the secret places of the cliff, let me see your face, let me hear your voice; for your voice is sweet, and your face is lovely.”

  • Watchman Nee has verses 14-15 spoken by the maiden, but Mike Bickle and Passion Translation both have this as the King-Bridegroom speaking, NKJV have her brothers speaking in verse 15. The King-Bridegroom is the one who likens her to a dove. The Lord continually reveals His tender affection for us even as we struggle though our fears and failures.

Two places we find God’s grace.

  • Cleft of the Rock – this is the finished work of the cross, redemption
  • Cliff – secret places of the cliff, the mystery of Jesus’ resurrection.
  • Both Cleft and Cliff speak of Philippians 3:10 (TPT) “And I continually long to know the wonders of Jesus more fully and to experience the overflowing power of his resurrection working in me. I will be one with him in his sufferings and I will be one with him in his death.”

Religion says you cannot be used in ministry until you have your act together. The Gospel (Good News) says ‘stand in the cleft of the rock’, step out into where Jesus is calling us (Ex 33:21; 21-22; 34:5-7)

Jesus wants to see our face and hear our voice in prayer and praise. He does not want us to hide from Him in shame, guilt and condemnation. He wants us to run to Him.

  • Turn you eyes upon Jesus
Look full in His wonderful face
And the things of earth will grow strangely dim
In the light of His glory and grace (Chorus of the song by Alan Jackson)

Songs 2:15,” Catch us the foxes, the little foxes that spoil the vines, for our vines have tender grapes.”

  • Little foxes of compromise that are in HER life. Foxes are an enemy Harvest and has come to steal, kill and destroy.   The King-Bridegroom does not have little foxes, but He is willing to help her – identification prayer is when you identify with the person/nation you are praying for like Daniel and Nehemiah.
    • Big foxes go after the fruit of the vine
    • Little foxes break off the tender vine branches and leave little change for fruit
      • Little foxes are thought life, use of time, use of money, entertainment, games – and this was written before social media and internet!!! Anything that distract us from the will of God.
  • Vine – Jesus is the Vine and we are the Branches
    • Our vineyard speaks of our fellowship with Jesus and our Heavenly Father
    • Tender Grapes speak of immature area in her walk with God
