Every day for 40 days of Teshuvah the 27th Psalm is read aloud.

First of all, what is Teshuvah? Teshuvah is a 40 day season of time for introspection, judging yourself. It begins Elul 1 and ends Yom Kippur  (Day of Atonement). The last 10 days are known as The Days of Awe. This year the Biblical calendar and the Gregorian Calendar totally align the days of the month of September and Elul! I believe that God is bringing us into a special time of alignment and of really preparing for these last of the Last Days.

The Hebrew root for Teshuvah is shuv, number  H7725 in the Strong’s Concordance and it means to return, to turn back, to restore, to cause to return. Spiritually speaking it is turning back to God. He never changes and if you feel distant from Him it is because you have distanced yourself by your own desires and choices in life. It is now an open portal to return to the Lord. For everything there is a season – and this is the season of what some call, an open heaven. Not for what we can get from God, but coming back to our First Love. The Passion Translation of Revelation 2:4 reads, “But I have this against you: you have abandoned the passionate love you had for me at the beginning.” Do you have that passionate love and joy you had when you first came to Jesus? Why? He has not changed. Just like the Ephesians, we have gotten too busy with good things.

Jeremiah 24:7, ‘Then I will give them a heart to know Me, that I am the LORD; and they shall be My people, and I will be their God, for they shall return (shuv) to Me with their whole heart.

One of my favorite Jewish Roots teachers is Perry Stone. He calls this the season to prepare spiritually, financially and emotionally.  https://perrystone.org/40-days-of-teshuvah/

I woke very early this morning, feeling empty and I realized that I have been looking forward to this “special open heaven season” for the past month, anticipating the time of coming back to the Lord with my whole heart! I am ready to drop off the ‘sins’ that have so easily ensnared me – namely the sin of busyness. My priorities were not in order.

The Passion Translation of Hebrews 12:1 reads, “As for us, we have all of these great witnesses who encircle us like clouds. So we must let go of every wound that has pierced us and the sin we so easily fall into. Then we will be able to run life’s marathon race with passion and determination, for the path has been already marked out before us.”

Prayer:  Jesus, I need Your help. Lord, help me come back to the passionate love I had for You in the beginning. Help me to let go of all the distractions and offences that harden my heart and cause my ears to be dull. Bring my life back into alignment with Your perfect will, In Jesus Name, Amen.

The word ELUL is only found once in the Bible. Nehemiah 6:15, “So the wall was finished in the twenty and fifth day of the month Elul, in fifty and two days.”  The 25th of ELUL is also the first day of Creation, when God said, “Let there be light.” This is the last month of the Hebrew civil year. The next month, Tishri, begins the civil year and the year changes to 5780, tied to the time when man was born (Adam).

The Month of Mercy

Historically this is when Moses went up Mt Sinai a second time for 40 days to seek forgiveness for the sin of the Golden Calf. God came down in a cloud and gave Moses the 13 attributes of who He is. (Exodus 34:5-7) Moses came down on Tishri 10, the Day of Atonement, Yom Kippur and said “God forgives!”

The word ELUL is an acronym of “I am my beloved and my beloved is mine.” This is the time to come closer to God, begin to start dropping off time wasters and come back to the Bible, hear His voice.

The King is in the Field

This is the month historically when the King is in the Field. We can bring this into our lives spiritually because Jesus Christ is the King of Kings, our Bridegroom. When a person would request presence of a king there was a ritual that you would have to go through to come into the presence of the king on his throne. But in the month of ELUL, the king leaves his throne and goes out into the field to see his people. He comes to our life, our workplace,  our prayer room, our level.

Jesus is always available, He is always near, He is always here because He said, “Lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the world.” (Mt 28:20) But there is a time when His presence comes closer to our corporate gatherings, and also into our prayer times. It seems there is a season when there is a more open heaven.

ELUL 1 begins the 40-day season of TESHUVAH

The Hebrew Month of Elul begins Saturday night at sundown. This year, the month of September and the Hebrew month of Elul totally align! I don’t ever remember that happening before!

This begins the 40-day season of Teshuvah, the month of repentance or ‘returning’ back to God. This is the 40 day period when Moses went back up Mt Sinai the 2nd time to seek the forgiveness for the Sin of the Golden Calf.  The 40 days end with Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement, when Moses came down and announced they are forgiven!

This is also the time when Jesus was led of the Spirit into the Wilderness to be tempted by the devil for 40 days. Time to Align with Prophetic Timing.

The Key to this season is PREPARATION for the Fall Feasts! We prepare for years for a wedding, we prepare all month for a special birthday or gathering. Stores start playing Christmas music in July! But is the a special time to prepare on God’s calendar? A time to prepare to meet our Lord!

I will begin the 40 Day Teshuvah Devotion daily during these 40 days, beginning Sunday, September 1st. I really believe that this incredible alignment of the calendars will prepare us for the season ahead. We need to align ourselves with God’s prophetic calendar.

The TV Program below is from 2018, but it is still good to explain what to look for in the month of Elul. Preparing for the High Holy Days.

9th Day of the 10 Days of Awe

Tonight at Sundown begins the most holy day on God’s calendar, Yom Kippur. Tonight also begins the Sabbath Day. Torah readings for Jews around the world are Isaiah 53:1-2, Zechariah 12:10 and for Messianic Believers, Hebrews 9:1-10:25.

There are several different names for this High Holy Day, and each name carries a special meaning:

  • Yom Kippur – Hebrew translation, Yom=Day, Kippur=Atonement, which means to cover, make reconciliation, to pacify or appease; to clear, purge, or cleanse
  • Day of Covering – When the sins of the nation will be covered for another year
  • Face to Face – This is the only day the High Priest could speak to G-d face to face, the only day he could go into the Holy of Holies
  • Day of Forgiveness – Passover was for the individual, Day of Atonement is for the cleansing and forgiveness of the nation
  • The Fast – Acts 27:9
  • Day of Grace – Free to us, but at a great cost to our Redeemer

Tomorrow ends the 40 days of Teshuvah (repentance) and the 10 Days of Awe.

I encourage everyone to set this day aside as holy – for the sake of our nation!!!

Day 6 of 10 Days of Awe

When Moses was up Mt Sinai for the 2nd set of 40 days, God introduced Himself and His character to Moses as He showed Moses His goodness. I am going to highlight the qualities of His character.

Exodus 34:6, And the Lord passed by before him, and proclaimed, The Lord! the Lord! a God merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and abundant in loving-kindness and truth (7) Keeping mercy and loving-kindness for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, but Who will by no means clear the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children and the children’s children, to the third and fourth generation. (AMPC)

  • LORD – Jehovah, “The Existing One”
  • LORD GOD – El (God) Jehovah
  • MERCIFUL – Compassionate, full of compassion – rachuwm is only used of God
  • GRACIOUS – channuwn– merciful, benignant (kind and benevolent)
  • LONGSUFFERING – arek – slow to anger, patient
  • ABUNDANT – rab – much, many, great, more numerous than, abounding in
  • GOODNESS – checed – goodness, kindness, faithfulness; in a good sense zeal towards anyone
  • TRUTH – emeth – firmness, faithfulness, sureness, stability, reliableness
  • KEEPING – natsar – to guard, to watch over, preserve
  • MERCY – checed – goodness, kindness, faithfulness; in a good sense zeal towards
  • FORGIVING – nasa – to lift, bear up, carry away
  • INIQUITIES – avon – perversity, depravity, iniquity, guilt or punishment of iniquity
  • TRANSGRESSIONS – pasha – transgression, rebellion, punishment for transgression

The last part of the generational iniquity shows God’s abundant mercy. The iniquity only goes to the 3rd or 4th generation, but mercy goes to a 1000 generations.

God is so FULL and OVERFLOWING with MERCY!!!! James 2:13 in the Aramaic Bible in Plain English reads, “The judgment is without mercy against him who does not practice mercy, but with mercy, you have dominion over judgment.” Another version reads “mercy triumphs over judgment”.

Let’s cry out for mercy!!! For our nation, for all the nations. So many people are suffering and need the mercy of God. He wants to pour out His mercy.

Day 4 of 10 Days of Awe – Day 1 of National Week of Repentance

There was a prophetic word by Richard Humphries in 1998 that you can read online at http://www.kingdomglobal.com.  It is titled “The Eclipse is Over – The Coming Hurricane – Prepare for the Latter Rain!” He prophesied about an eclipse, followed by a hurricane, followed by a flood, then a great move of Holy Spirit. WOW! I am ready for that outpouring of Holy Spirit.

  • Eclipse – August 21
  • Hurricane – August 25
  • Flood  – August 27
    • The month of the Flood of Noah’s day begins October 20, Cheshvan. This is the month the flood began and the ark settled one year and 10 days later.

There is a great emphasis on repentance right now. The National Week of Repentance has a website to follow so we are all in One Voice for our nation. Today’s Prayer Focus is: Ask God to pour out His Holy Spirit across on you, and on other people across this nation so that people everywhere begin to truly humble themselves, pray and seek God and turn from anything and everything that they’ve put before God. The website for this week is http://www.weekofrepentance.com.

Day 3 of 10 Days of Awe

Today is Shabbat Shuva, the Sabbath day of repentance. When a Sabbath day falls in between Rosh HaShana and Yom Kippur, it is a special day of repentance.

Today is also a huge astrological day in the heavens. It is the day that the Revelation 12 sign is in the heavens. It is amazing how many Christians have bought into the fake news that this is a sign of the end of the world. I have had pastors and Christian friends who are trying to convince me about planet X (Niburu) is the red dragon of Revelation, that this is the end. Many have been thinking that Jesus is coming back for us this year. All of them will be considered false prophets next week.

Jesus never told us to speculate. He told us to ‘watch and pray’.

  • Mark 13:33, Take heed, watch and pray; for you do not know when the time is (34) It is like a man going to a far country, who left his house and gave authority to his servants, and to each his work, and commanded the doorkeeper to watch. (35) Watch therefore, for you do not know when the master of the house is coming—in the evening, at midnight, at the crowing of the rooster, or in the morning— (37) And what I say to you, I say to all: Watch!”
  • Luke 21:36, Watch therefore, and pray always that you may be counted worthy to escape all these things that will come to pass, and to stand before the Son of Man.”
  • I Peter 4:7, But the end of all things is at hand; therefore be serious and watchful in your prayers.
  • Matthew 24:42, Watch therefore, for you do not know what hour your Lord is coming.
  • Matthew 25:13, “Watch therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour in which the Son of Man is coming.

Watch in the New Testament is the Greek word agrypneō and it means “to be sleepless, keep awake, watch;to be circumspect, attentive, read”. All these signs in the heavens are ‘wake up calls’ for the Church.

Romans 13:11, “And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed.”

Day 2 of 10 Days of Awe

This morning I woke to a wonderful song singing loud in my spirit. The song is one that Joni Lamb and the DayStar singers sing, “I will worship You, give You all the glory”. As I quietly sang that to my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and meditated on Abba Father’s goodness the “songs of deliverance” came to me. I  typed those words into my search engine on my iPhone and came up with an amazing song on YouTube. It brought such incredible peace to me.

When I checked my emails Marsha Burns Small Straws word was perfect – a true word of God in season! It lines up totally with these 10 Days of Awe. http://myemail.constantcontact.com/Prophetic-Devotional–September-22–2017.html?soid=1101176124184&aid=WnAgHDrfcX8

One of the things I wanted to ask Abba this morning was if we were to tear out the cupboards in our kitchen. If I have not mentioned this before, we were flooded 3-4 inches in our home during the 23 inches of rain in one night with TS Harvey. When I got on FaceBook one of the first things I saw was an alert to take out the cupboards. Before I even asked He gave me the answer.

Abba Father is so close right now, immediate answers to prayer are ready for all those who seek Him.
